The league would randomize the lottery, because that would generate the most public interest.

I personally wouldnt mind if the NBA just cancels the Draft and the teams have to resume with the roster at hand until the following year. Im realistic that this is not likely, but If I WAS IN CHARGE heres why I push for it.

-First, this allows the current group of rookies at getting a fair share at making the roster and improving on a smaller roster.

-Allows the "tweeners"(players who are between project/prospect and overseas castaway) another year to improve before they get shipped off for a rookie who hasnt proved anything yet.

-Improves the qualtiy of the NCAA, D-League, Overseas leagues. (D-League rules should change their rules to allow players who dont want to stay in college to play a minimum of one or two seasons in the D-League to earn pay and showcase their abilities for the draft.) Ex: imagine if Brandon Jennings was allowed to play a couple years ago in Rio Grande and the benefit it would have to the NBA D-League brand.

-The draft quality for the 2013 draft. The players in the draft would already be known commodities and stars in their own right. Less fluff in the 2nd round with players who have no shot at making the team.

-2012 draft picks would be pushed back a year. Meaning, hypothetically, if a team has say only the Knicks 2012 1st round pick, and their own 2013 2nd round pick it gets substituted for a 2013 Knicks first round pick and their own 2014 2nd round pick and so on.

How is that even close to fair for the kids who are seniors in college? That would suck for them. Instead of having a guaranteed contract they get to go to camps and try out and hope for the best?

I think the NHL model works best. I liked what I saw, but it doesn't fair well for us...
