Seems like a bad fit for the Celtics; from what I saw, most of their problems came down to getting effective low post scoring and having Rondo play with one arm. The main problem with getting Chuck as a 2nd unit defensive anchor is that you can't really play him effectively with either Big Baby or Jeff Green. I actually really like the JaJuan Johnson pick for them; if there is one thing that guy is going to be able to do in the league, it's stick turnaround fadeaways from the postup. By the way, I would be remiss without mentioning that this writer wrote one of the most idiotic, bleacherreport-esque opinion pieces earlier on in this series, when he believes 3years-$12M is enough to lure away DeAndre Jordan from the Clippers. I'm going to chalk this up to a massive, temporary aneurysm brought on by the July 4 weekend, and not the fact that the worldwide leader's hiring standards have dropped precariously low. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4685475/planning-ahead-jordan-a-center-of-attention
"Boston Celtics"....you don't mess with the Chuckwagon. Hope they re-sign Chuck and Chuck re-signs here. If not though, understandable. If not Houston, go to Chicago Chuck! ; )
Chuck's first and biggest supporter before he had supporters is the coach of the Bulls. He can get mins. backing Noah and getting mins. when Boozer usually go down for about 20 games. But I can also see him signing with his hometown team with the the Warriors since they are trying to be more of a defensive team and they are pretty stacked at the guard position I can see them overpay for him.
Sometimes you want to play only for one team, its called loyalty (not common now with the NBA players). Its like Andre Johnson, he could sign with the Colts or the Patriots or any contending team, but no, he wants to stay in Houston. or for an example in the NBA look Nash, he could sign with other contending team and go for the championship, phenix is rebuilding and by the time they get good, nash would be too old.
Wanting to create what? Chuck is not a superstar. He can't change the course of this team. If he signs with this team, he's signing out of sheer loyalty.
What he means is wanting to help create his own winning team. Also, Chuck can and already has changed the course of this team. If you don't believe me, look at the teams record while he was out last season.
Some fool on here said we need to go with the new regime of Jordan Hill at the center...Cmon now!!That boi is a stiff...Not Thabeet stiff but closer to him than not...I love Chuck..Get rid of somebody else...Chuck got tutored by Mutumbo, battled Yao in practice..WE NEED HIM...
I like Chuck a lot, but I think him staying here would be a lot like Pau Gasol staying in Spain instead of playing in the NBA. On our team where would he be? The team already has Scola/PP/Donatas at the forward slot, once we get that Center he would be reduced to playing 10 mins a night, maybe even sit on the bench and collect splinters. Chuck playing a backup-backup role is a disservice to his talents, he should be getting at least 20 mins a night. He fits like a T on a team like the Celts, him and KG on the same team would mean the opponent score 50 pts tops.
His natural position should be the Rockets' starting center this year, and backup center to Dwight next year. Let's resign Chuck, and go with what we have.
Since one of the main things the Rockets want to do this year is to improve the defense it seems that it would be counter productive to let Chuck go. He is or should be a steadying influence in the locker room and on the floor.
Boston trying to have their own Chinese cash cow. With his popularity in China, they would sop up Yao's leftovers. Their new slogan:"We are green, but we have RED running through our veins."
I love Chuck but this team has a two PF that need Playing time so they can develop (Pattterson and Montijunas). They only reason I'd want him back is if we failed miserably in free agency looking for a Center. If we do sign a real center then "bye, bye" Chuck.
Chuck Hayes is 28 years old. Since he doesn't rely on much athleticism or a great leaping ability, he'll probably be able to play at a high level for 6-8 more years. For that reason, I'm keeping him. The guy is tailor-made to play next to a talented big man, or be the first big off the bench. Letting him go to save him from another year or two of mediocrity is silly. He can be a part of the future.
Pshhh....put yourself in his shoes. If you are a role player with a limited skillset and have a chance at a ring, you'd take it.
