Milwaukee could be another option. Basically any small market team with enough cap room to absorb Scola. I don't know if the Rockets like Tobias Harris, but something like Harris + 2012 1st for Scola might be worth considering.
I couldn't decide to post this in the old "Sell High on Kevin Martin" thread, or here...but here goes: What do folks think of this trade: Houston - Kevin Martin, Thabeet and Jordan Hill Phoenix - Vince Carter(whose contract is only 4 Million guaranteed if terminated by June 30th), Robin Lopez. Why? For Houston, the Rockets could *cut 12 Million in payroll and use the funds to pursue a Center and Max players in the future * Still have Lee at the 2 * Get a serviceable Center in Lopez Phoenix meanwhile could put a quality shooting guard next to Nash and try for another playoff run. Also, if everyone was so inclined, maybe PHX could throw in the other Morris twin...and then the rockets can change their logo to kittens...and Justin Beiber could be their coach...
That's not selling high. That's dumping a quality player and two useless players for two useless players. That's in all likelihood not gonna happen though. If Indiana trades for Scola, it's to pair him with Granger. To win now, if you will.
The problem with all these trade Scola or Kmart ideas is it seems like DM and Les(who'll be the ones calling the shots anyway) think that we're only a few pieces from a championship. If this is the case, you can expect trades that would help us win now and not for the future. So more of young players for players we need to win type of deals.
I like this trade proposal! If possible, the Suns could throw in a draftpick to sweet the deal. I mean, why not?

Hornets Trade? With the report that the New Orleans Hornets have now lost David West, Aaron Gray, David Anderson, and Carl Landry to free agency. I think the Rockets could look at a trade to send Scola and Flynn, Dragic, or Lowry for CP3. Obviously there would be more involved with this, but we could get our superstar and they could fill holes. It would make this a lot easier to grab a center at that point, with CP3 at the helm. Just a thought.
A couple of things before I get into my trade idea. 1st, obviously the Rockets have too many players and need to clear some space. 2nd, captain obvious says that the Rockets still need a center. My trade idea clears plenty of roster space and plenty of cap room. This trade leaves the Rockets with 12 players on the roster (signing all rookies) without Yao, Marqus Blakely, or Marcus Cousin. Obviously, that make 15 on the roster if you keep them. Houston trades: Courtney Lee (Bulls), Terrence Williams (Bulls), Jordan Hill (Clippers), Chase Budinger (Clippers), and Hasheem Thabeet (Clippers). They also send a 1.7 mil TE to Chicago. Chicago trades: Omer Asik, rights to Jimmy Butler, and a future 1st. L.A. Clippers trade: Chris Kaman. The Rockets new line up looks like this: Lowry/Dragic/Flynn Martin/Dragic (deserves starter minutes and is capable of playing SG)/Butler Morris/Butler/Parsons/Blakely? Scola/Patterson/Donatas/Cousin? Kaman/Asik/Yao? This leaves the Rockets with ~52 million in salary for next year. Don't know what type of deal Yao will get, but you can add it to the 52 mil. Kaman, Asik, Flynn, Cousin, Blakely, and Dragic all expire next season, which is around 20 million off the books. If the Rockets want to make a run at a top tier free agent next season, this is the way to go. You fill the voids at center with two capable big men, who both expire. You also give the world a view of what this team looks like with a legit center, and you most likely make the playoffs. Imagine Dwight seeing what this team is capable of with Chris Kaman starting at Center. This trade is a win-win, IMO, and neither team gets robbed in the process. The Rockets get 2 legit centers, Chicago gets their starting SG and a backup SF, and L.A. gets a legit backup for Blake, a backup for Aminu or possible starter, and a backup for Deandre, all for a guy that lost his starting job at Center.
He meant one-sided for the Rockets -- the Clippers would not do that deal. Not enough for Kaman -- the only valuable player going to them is Budinger.
I love that thought. If CP is adamant about leaving, we could probably get him at a bargain price. Then again, he could also come for a year and then just leave.
I would agree if he was still their starter. He lost his job to Deandre, and the Clippers look like they want to move on without him. 2 backups and a possible starter for a guy who doesn't start on that team anymore. If they want more, then maybe add picks to please them.
I agree he could come for a year and then leave, but Morey seemed pretty set on risking that with Melo. I don't see why he wouldn't risk it on CP as well.
Because CP3 is not worth it. Having Lowry and Dragic cancels out the need for a broken down player like Paul. Let NO suffer through his next injury. We have enough of that already.
For fun.... Houston trades: Hill, Thabeet, T-Will for Biedrins GS trades: Biedrins, Dorrell Wright for Stephen Jackson, Hill Milwaukee trades: S-Jax for Wright, T-Will, Thabeet Still debating whether or not we're giving up too much in this 3-for-1 but at the end of the day it's three non-rotation guys for a likely starter. I'm sure DM could work in some sweeteners from our end. Milwaukee does it to move an unhappy Stephen Jackson for three low-risk players. One of which (Wright) is coming off a breakout season. GS does it to move Biedrins and acquire a familiar face + Hill.
Why is he broken down? He looked pretty good leading an arguably inferior roster to the playoffs over Martin/Lowry's Rockets.
The main reason that roster is inferior is because they had to pay CP3 the max. In the new era of the NBA a pg-led team won't win anything simply because you're paying short guys like CP3 and D-will the same amount other teams are paying Lebron and Dwight Howard.
