That's probably the case. I wouldn't want to give up too much for taking on that contract either, especially with Biedrins' questionable work ethic.

Ha, not a big deal. I still haven't learned how to post the screenshot of it yet anyways, so yours is much better for presentation.

I don't think either organization sees any value in Thabeet, Hill, or Biedrins. They are essentially trading two less expensive assets for one very expensive asset. Thus, Morey is probably demanding a king's ransom (ie multiple picks).

If we traded both Thabeet and Hill, we would have no chance at signing 2 max contracts in 2012.

False. If the Rockets traded for Biedrins, it would obviously mean that they valued him as a player.

Thabeet and Hill are (potentially) EXPIRING contracts. Biedrins would be owed another two years, $18 million, AFTER next season.

No way Morey takes on that kind of money (and clogs the team's cap) just for the sake of "swapping scrubs."

Does this mean we'll have a "Why doesn't Hakeem train Biedrins?" Thread?

I think Finsraider could be right. Don't be so dismissive. I don't think the Rockets value Biedrins that highly. I think Morey would be trading the best player in the deal with Jordan Hill. I'm not even a huge Hill fan, but over the past 2 seasons he has been better than Andris and he can at least shoot the ball. This deal would be done already if we were simply offering Hill and Thabeet for Biedrins. It makes sense that it isn't done because we are really asking for a minimally protected 2012 lotto pick as well.

However, Kirk Lacob said much of the interview was lost in translation. He said a Biedrins-for-Thabeet-and-Hill deal was not discussed, but the three players were part of potential multiplayer deals that probably would have included other Warriors assets.

"Other Warriors assets" probably means Morey wanted Golden State's unprotected 2012 first round draft pick, at a minimum, and maybe even their 2011 first round pick, in exchange for taking on that bloated contract. I was always skeptical of the breakdown of the proposed deal from the first report, because it would be a deal completely uncharacteristic of Morey.

If Morey had offered Thabeet and Hill for Biedrins straight up, the response from GS would have been: "Let me think about it . . . okay, yes!"

Peter Vescey (take it for what it's worth), said Hill was not included in the package offer, but Miller was. If correct, then the discussions were before the Milwaukee deal:

Houston indeed offered Hasheem Thabeet for Andris Biedrins but its package included Brad Miller, not Jordan Hill. . . .

Sorry, didn't see the part where finsraider talked about Morey also asking for multiple picks. My bad.

Purely from a salary standpoint, however, I still say there's no way Morey does that deal unless he's at least somewhat high on Biedrins as this team's starting center.

Also, the earliest first rounder the Rockets could conceivably hope to get from the Warriors is in 2014. GSW already owes a (top-8 protected) 2012 first rounder to Utah.

    Yeah, very much so.

There were a lot of scandals when he was in the national team and his confrontations with Don Nelson started because of that

Latvian basketball federation once considered a suspension for Biedrins because of the scandal back in Turkey, when he and another four teammates were extremely drunk during the training camp.

One of them wasn't able to find a key in his pocket so he decided to knock out the door in hotel room and then he got a bottle of vodka or whiskey (I don't remember what it was actually) and tried to use it in a fight with a security guards that came in rescue for normal visitors. Bierdrins was a big part of it too.

And it was just one of many many stories about drunk Biedrins

No problem. And I probably didn't use the right words to hint at my point. I don't think there's anyway we do this if we don't see some value in Biedrins. Even multiple picks arent worth 18 million and 2 years limited cap.

If GSW already gave away their 2012, I don't have any interest in talking to them.
