It seems these quotes were taken from a much longer interview, and unless we know what questions were asked we wont know the exact context of his replies. Like Carl alluded to, it seems they might have been asking him if he has any prospects of ring chasing if the Rockets don't want him back.

The Rockets better show loyalty since Yao has never once hinted at wanting to leave. It's quite the opposite, so the least Alexander can do is return the favour and let him at least try to come back. I hope they will keep Yao off the court at least until january. Then slowly work him in as a back-up and hopefully he can play 10-20 mins come playoff time.

    Miami Heat.
Ha. Honestly, there aren't many teams that can adjust their whole team to his tempo. Up-tempo teams are increasing. But, wouldn't it be funny to see Yao on the Heat? Maybe he'll be what Big Z should have been in Miami + Cleveland.

I was thinking the same thing. It is a way that he showed his loyalty to the team that go through with him all the injuries that he had. So in return he will stick with the team whether it is rebuilding or going for the title. I do not think for one second that winning a champioship is not important to him. But he rather win it with the team that he loves rather than just any teams out there that could win it.

Yeah I think that is probably proof positive that he is done. I don't think someone says that unless they are.

I was on the 'hope he comes back to rockets' bandwagon but the reality is his words.

Are you serious? What loyalty are you talking about here? Yao got paid the whole time he was injured without playing a lick of basketball. There is no question of loyalty, only what price is Yao willing to come back as. He is not like Jeter who is still serviceable. Yao has been nothing but a burden against our salary cap the last few years. It is time to move on and probably more than a couple years too late.

That he says he's only 30% at this point is very troubling.

    Surgery doesn't fix all injuries.

Brandon Roy is going to be crippled for the rest of his life but I don't see him on the bench fretting over the next 10 years of his life. Roy is out there. On the court. Making plays. On bad knees.

    Just saying.

Yeah it's Yao being Yao. The man is loyal to a fault, the interviewer asked if he'd leave Houston for a team with a more legit shot and he was saying he isn't leaving Houston just to chase a ring.

Obviously, a lot of factors will go into it. Smart money is for Yao to go to a big market contender... best for Yao, Houston, and LA/Miami whoever signs him... sure that he's getting a lot of pressure from his team to leave Houston.

Sad any way you cut it. He could have been a Top 10 all-time Center.

Can someone "photochop" a fork in Yao's ankle?

Cleverly disguised "cut the demand for Yao and lower his value" article.

Yao said 30% strength back. I think that's different than 30% healed.
