Dude is a gamechanger for the Mavs. To think we were so close to getting him.

We would have made the playoffs and Rick would still be our head coach.

Would Rockets have 70 wins if they had Lebron?

I think that we would've made playoffs with a force like that

How many threads revolve around, "if we only had a legit 7ft defensive minded center we would be a playoff team that would escape the first round".

    ...yes....obviously, yes.

In case you missed this interview...
    http://rockets.clutchfans.net/1380/tyson-chandler-rockets-trade/

After I wrote that I was told it wasn't really the Rockets' fault that trade fell through, but using the power of hindsight, given how badly the stock of many Rockets players fell between then and the February deadline, I'd say the Rockets could have paid a higher price and still have gotten a bargain. For example, if you offered Aaron Brooks -- Is Chandler more important to this team than Goran Dragic and the #23 pick?

To answer your question though, I'd say yes... probably could have won 50 with him, but I think it's hard to calculate also how many games Chuck Hayes won for the team. The Rockets need a shotblocker -- that's very true -- but I do wonder a bit how much of a step back you take first in losing Chuck Hayes. He played much better offensively and is a terrific one-on-one post defender. Rim protector? Not so much.

With Hayes and Chandler though, the Rockets would have had some real defensive possibilities.

This is different. Morey was actually trying to acquire Chandler and apparently was very close to a done deal but fell through at the end? I'm sure there wwere a lot of threads on clutchfans about it.

i don't think you have to lose chuck hayes.

hayes played 28 minutes per game
    scola played 32
    chandler played 27

that leaves 9 for (lets say) pat, which means the combo of chandler and hayes would only be on the court for 7 minutes. maybe an offensive liability but adelman's teams here had more defensive breakdowns than offensive droughts. i'd take my chances strategically with that combo for 3:30 in each half.

Does anyone with inside information know why in the freaking hell we never signed Chandler? It just pisses me off how Morey just f'd that up and the hated Mavs are reaping the rewards.

We'll never know because Morey loves Chuck at center. So we're set.

Another year with Hayes as the starting Center? The Rockets are "set" alright. Set for another return to the Lottery.

I think this year's Rockets would win 55+ games with a player like chandler if we are committed to defense while maintaining the offense with Fitch. I'm very optimistic about this year's staff right now. Hopefully we can get a center.

I'd take Haywood simply because he can play defense AND starcraft.

Morey can't close the deal and les won't pay. Personally, I would've offered yao and his expiring and dream comeback for chandler especially with scola at the 4.

I would like to have Chandler for next season.

Would there be any way to get both Yao and Chandler signed up in H-Town for next season? I'm not all that up on the Rockets salary cap or the salary cap specifics in general.
