Eh, that's too bad. He's looks damn solid out there though. Lots of movement on those pitches.

TOUGH break but that was on the kid. Take the out at first and move on, might be time to get Lopez in the game.

Regardless, 7+ of that type of ball wins you A LOT of games. Pretty impressive but how does a FREAKING marathon blackout Sunday's start???

He should have gone to first, but a cleaner throw would have gotten his man at third.

then he should have gone to third, as he did. it's the 8th inning of a 1-0 game. prevent the run at all costs. we weren't going to score again.

I often have to remind myself this team is rebuilding, it helps to remember all those years when plays like that got made even when they're weren't the right play.

Excellent start for Lyles, I can't blame him for trying to make a play.. good throw would have nailed him. Interested for the follow up Sunday. His pitches to Soto for the K in the 5th was sick

When can we say that Wilton's deal with devil is done?

Edit - And I know what his ERA says but just think he has been getting hit hard and walking people.

It was originally an unearned run but the official scorer has to piece the inning together and determine if the run would have scored had there not be the error. With the double that followed, that run would have eventually scored.

Seems like JD is starting to agree with you. Still think you take the out at 1st and try to get Fukudome but it's not a horrible decision, I guess.

If the throw is on target, than he is out. Thats an unearned run.
