Graduating soon, still no job

    Still don't know why you'd focus so narrowly on finance companies. Other industries with a lot of exposure to securities markets could also be interested, like energy companies.

    also manufacturing companies and real estate...hell any large corporations. He shouldn't limit himself too much, especially with it being his first job.

    im about to graduate with double majors in Economics and Political Science (GPA around 3.4) from NYU and im still looking for a job. any ideas/suggestions?

    Make a list of your primary contacts/any significant relationships you may have formed in the city or during an internship, and start touching the base and "seeking advice." Chances are, at least one of your connections will have a potential opportunity or number to throw your way. Don't call out of desperation and jump right to the chase and ask these guys for a job, but rather nurture those relationships, genuinely ask for words of wisdom, and they'll likely be willing to lend a helping hand. Networking is KEY. Too many students get caught up in the GPA race (though a very strong GPA will get your foot in the door for an interview, there's much more to the equation that just impressive grades -- especially in NYC).
