Agreed. But I think England made a mistake by not playing more spin bowlers. Ireland struggled against Bangladesh and failed to chase 206 against their parade of spinners...
One thing I never figured out is why the USA doesn't have a world class competitive cricket team like Canada kind of has? I know Canada is bottom of the totem pole in rankings, but at least they qualify. The USA has a larger population and a good number of immigrants from the South Asian countries. I don't see why it is so hard to find at least 10 players who can play world class cricket? Canada has a team at least with a fraction of the population.
I don't think it has anything to do with the number of South Asian immigrants. Canada is more "British" than the USA.
He does have a point, look at how many South Asian names there are on their current squad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_national_cricket_team http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_cricket_team 7 vs. 12
I believe the US have been in a couple, there is a few leagues about the place and I know a friend of mine who went to college in LA for bball used to play in a weekly game they had at the campus with mainly students from Pakistan and India. I guess though these sort of people would be there to become a professional and not live for a dream of playing cricket. Canada I think just from being a Commonwealth nation have more players, most of these sides though rely on players who were born in the country or are able to get a citizenship somehow but actually live in the UK, SA or Australia etc. to make them competitive.
Pathetic display by Pakistan against Canada in the first half. No chance of them losing still though.
New Zealand scores 92 runs in the last 4 overs as they take their score to 302. Ross Taylor scores 131 (from 124) and blasts 7 sixes.
Wow!!! What an absolutely pathetic showing by Pakistan!!! LOL! 114 runs off of 36 balls? That has to be an all time record or something. Good lord I hate Pakistan!!!
