I dont think they ever considered him done. He'll probably just have flare ups throughout a season and won't be able to play. Eventually the flare ups may be too often to keep playing i'd guess.

I was half watching the game, but didn't he miss the game winning layup?

Key question you pose there. I have serious doubts about Roy holding up, but let's assume he does. Let's also assume Nate figures out a rotation that works for them.

If both of the above assumptions pan out for Portland, I think they will finish as the 4th seed and have a chance to go deep in the playoffs. They can beat the Thunder in the 1st round and have a legit shot at taking down the Spurs.

The key in keeping everyone happy is who plays the point position when Andre Miller is on the bench. Patty Mills has had his moments, but he doesn't measure up. If Roy and Rudy can split the time at backup point, I think there may be enough minutes to keep everyone happy.

    Camby/LA at C
    LA/Wallace/Batum (rarely) at PF
    Batum/Rudy/Wallace at SF
    Matthews/Roy/Rudy at SG
    Miller/Rudy/Roy at PG

I think the above is a viable 8-man rotation. Mills would be the 8 1/2 man.

I'm still ticked off when I think that we could have had him had we lost one damn game. No one could have known at the time that these issues with the knees would arise. Roy is a stud.

I'm so happy for him, He's probably my favorite player outside the Rockets organization, such a unfortunate situation with the bum knees.

But tonight, good for him, keep fighting roy

Well, we don't know how long Roy has left in his career, but he's making the most out of it.

Don't hate but i think he's done. I agree, amazing shot he hit, but the old Brandon Roy gets a better shot.
The old Brandon Roy doesn't depend on the refs to bail him out, only to get lucky and hit a shot he probably had Russian routlette-esque odds of hitting. 17% That's my magically made up number, slicing his normal percentages in half, considering the degree of difficulty.
He could be the next Grant Hill, but what is that really. Goes from top 10 player in the league to MLE guy. I believe Grant Hill is a BEST CASE scenario.
If Portland is smart they'll do exactly with Roy and Oden as we should with Yao........... Sit them all season and run them for the play-offs.
For those who say "what about chemistry", I say how about a 6th man roll.

He hit 2 clutch 3s in the final 40 seconds of the 4th though, not just 1.

Did you guys even watch the game? Roy hit one with like 40 seconds left, then Fernandez hit one, then Roy again with like 6 seconds.
