I've had a dog, some small birds, an aquarium, two hares and several stray cats.

Just the one dog. Unless people count.

    Isn't that right, Precious?

You mean in actual numbers for one's entire life? Does that include fish? I had a 135 gallon aquarium for many years that had anywhere from 60 to 100+ fish in it. Also bred them in smaller tanks. Had an owl for about a year. Had finches for a few years and bred them. Usually had a cat until I met a lady who was allergic to them. Had a handful of dogs, most of whom lived for many years, thus the small number. Had some other critters I've probably forgotten about, like a baby duck at Easter one year that I released in the lake at Hermann Park. Stuff like that. I have no idea what the count would add up to because of the fish, although when I had my aquariums, I kept a log of the fish I had, and may still have those somewhere. The logs, not the fish.

Perhaps its the way u phrased this topic along with your thread inquiring about having ever killed someone, or perhaps ive been reading too many mystery novels... but... are you dexter?

i couldn't help but laugh at the title of the thread

not that the death of pets is funny but to me the title sounded like "how many pets did i not take care of and they died".

note: not accusing anybody of malpractice

Yeah this is true. Although not so much of malpractice, just some miscommunication with the pets

Do sea monkeys count? Only if you ordered them from the back of a comic book. I remember when you could order spider monkeys from an ad in a comic book. Actual monkeys! I had a friend who got one. It didn't turn out well. The critter bit him, so he gave it to the Houston Zoo. This was back in the 1950's, but I remember seeing the ads in the '60's.

Not counting family pets as a kid...

3 goldfish, 2 of which were possibly murdered by the 3rd. I theorize he ate their souls and used them to live over 3 years.

    1 cat now with ex-girlfriend.

    Currently own a tripod chinchilla.

6 dogs (7 if you count the one I have now), a couple of cats, probably 6 different aquarium setups (with everything from fish to frogs to crabs), 3 rabbits, a few various rodents, couple of parakeets... hope I'm not leaving anyone out.

Ordering Monkies from a comic book...

The 50's sound more and more like Narnia.
