Carmelo has taken all the excitement out of trading season. He is barely a superstar, but is getting the superstar treatment from the league. It was a little over 2 weeks ago when the Denver/Nets talks picked up, that we got the DPE. Morey was probably thinking he would be able to use it then. Everything seemed perfect until Carmelo's punkass started being difficult again. Now the DPE is gone and i blame Carmelo. Now that the Melo talks have stalled, many teams are stuck in waiting. Would you all say that Melo is somewhat ruining the season for multiple teams?
I'd say he's ruining Denver's season, though Denver management is complicit in that. Otherwise, though, the sucky teams distracted by the Anthony melodrama would be sucky anyway, Rockets included. And, using the DPE was probably unlikely regardless, given the quick expiration and the Rockets current salary situation.
As well as the Rox relative position for a realistic run - - to anywhere. The OP's point is valid as until Melo is dealt no other significant moves can be consummated. The commish oughta get Nugs and Melo reps quietly aside and say, 'Let's get this done and move on.'
Along with this thread, in which I expected to see more info that what has been posted before us. The twenty-fourth cannot come soon enough ....
Melo has told Denver he is not signing an extension. Denver is the one holding up the show. Melo is perfectly content in playing out the rest of the season.
Melo is not perfectly content playing the rest of the season in Denver. He said he's worried about not being able to get the max extension if that happens.
I is still a mystery to me why Melo would want to be traded in the first place. The Nugs actually have a good thing going. Melo deserves to be booed for wasting everyones time.
What more do you want? The Rockets along with other teams have been waiting for this to be over. Haven't you?
One could interpret the situation as Denver holding Carmelo hostage. Obviously everyone is looking out for their own best interest. No one is in the wrong or right.
Its difficult to know where to assign the most blame. Its annoying that players sign contracts and before they have fulfilled them, start black mailing their team. On the other hand, if they kept their mouth shut and just left when their obligation was up, their former team might get nothing. The media and the hype that goes along with it deserves much. Personally, im tired of all the speculation and all the time its consumed. But I have only myself to blame for reading it.
I'm not a Melo fan by any means but all the Melodrama isn't caused by Carmelo Anthony. At the start of the season he already said where he wanted to go: NY. He didn't play it like LBJ or Bosh who played coy and flirted with just about every city, I don't even recall reading him getting interviewed where he wanted to go to by reporters, he's tried his best to keep everything out of the public's eye. If you're gonna blame anyone, blame Denver for acting like Melo's MJ and Hakeem mixed together with a dash of Magic Johnson. NJ gave them a package that would have been worth so much more than Melo already, yet they still wouldn't be satisfied. Serves them right now that NJ has backed away from trade talks.
