If he tries to comeback he needs to drop like 15-20lb of muscle (which is really significant). His health was fine the first few seasons until he bulked up to where everyone thought he could compete against shaq, but there is neither a "shaq" these days nor anyone with that kind of body regardless.
You got to feel for the big fella, the guy has that no quit attitude. Hope he has a healthy recovery, & makes the right decision to either retire or comeback. Good Luck Yao!!!
I thought i read on here somewhere last week that he would have surgery or that he needed surgery regardless.
I didnt even know they were there yet, thought Yao was letting it heal? i figured i missed something, since i'm avoding the yao thread, but i would have expected a new thread if it was announced.. It sounds like he'll be ready for the start of next season though..sounds like they jumped to surgery to get him a better deal.
Always wishing the best for him, and hoping a successful comeback no matter how many times he falls, I can not help it. In Clanton we trust
Still under contract being paid, so he's with the Rockets... unless you're drawing parallels to the T-Mac situation and saying Yao has gone solo.
I doubt Yao has gone solo... Clanton works for the Rockets, right? I'm sure the Rox already know of this...

I thought Clanton left the Rockets? http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/090430_clanton_leaving_sports_teams
It's probably better he went ahead and had "season ending" surgery. Anyone know if that's a requirement for getting the exception?
[rquoter]Yao played five games in his ninth season. He has had six consecutive seasons interrupted or ended by bone injuries. [/rquoter] ... smh.
As a fan the first couple of times Yao had surgery I was excited because it was the start of Yao's return. This time I don't feel that way because I am just so frustrated waiting and waiting on his return and it just does not pan out. Possibly management got that same feeling, that all this hype about the return of Yao is just wishful thinking. No one knows for sure. And if they just promise Yao will be back to increase ticket sales well that will just piss Rockets fans even more when he returns and gets injured after 5 games again. Perhaps in their minds it is now better to do this on the low and let sleeping giants and surprise us all when it really happens. The truth is this franchise needs Yao to return so badly. We are without much more hope for the immediate future. By the way unlike others on here I do believe Yao has some years left on his career. His injury looked like a fluke accident and not a problem with his foot taking a pounding. Anyway that's my 1 cent.
