Monday night was the deadline of extending your players. If contract is not signed player will enter the fa market as a RFA.

I was thinking the same thing. Man, this got to be a slap in the face to Brooks and even to Lowry since both of them have been out performing him for the past 2 seasons.

NBA should change the rules about the deadline to sign extensions.

It should be moved to Jan. or Feb. and recent free agent signees should be able to be traded after 2 months regardless.

Too many dumb moves being made. smh.

This would solve alot of them.

Child please the kid made improvements and there is nothing better than seeing your young and talented player improve. If AB started the season off with improved defense and PG abilities, everyone would be on his tip

This is the same team that gave up Pau Gasol for nothing, right?

Well, once Marc leaves because the Grizzlies have no money to give because they tied it up in Gay and Conley, yeah.

It's a great time to be a mediocre PG.

    Kyle Lowry
    Luke Ridnour
    Mike Conley

Discouraging to see these guys get overpaid when the 1 spot is the deepest it's ever been.

One of them doesn't belong with the others.

    LOL..so typical.

Fact is, Conley came out to early. He was 6'1 and 170lbs and could not compete physically. Plus he couldn't shoot a lick. He got hurt his rookie year but showed flashes. Showed longer flashes his 2nd year. His 3rd year he had to deal with a training camp of Allen Iverson acting a complete ass because Conley was starting over him. He still finished strong last year:

    March: 16 points/6 assists
    April: 17 points/5 assists

Then he followed a strong preseason with a strong season start. So the Grizzlies paid him below average starting PG money. Oh and he is only 23.

Kyle Lowry's contract does look bad at all now.

Not if the L is about to renegotiate the CBA that looks to shave 20% of the money off the table and Conley is going to be a RFA. 45 over 5 is a really steep price for his resume, especially considering the ongoing negotiations.

9M is not "below average" starting money. That's below superstar money already.

Exactly, Conley is the only starter out of the three.

Superstar money is $17 million+ a season, you simply don't know what you are talking about in this case. Look at the starting salaries of NBA PGs not on rookie deals. Conley's deal is going to be in the bottom 3rd.

seems like a reasonable contract for a player that should improve through out those 5 years.

Here's a lit of starters making as much or less than 9M a year:
    Mike Bibby 5.6M
    Rondo 9M
    Ramon Sessions 3.9M
    Jason Kidd 8.6M
    Jamal Tinsley 6.4M
    Derek Fisher 3.7M
    Raymon Felton 7M
    Devin Harris 8.9M
    Kirk Heinrich 9M

Bottom third? Like I said its already in the below superstar money level (9M-12M) already.

If he keeps his stats exactly where they are now, he might be worth it. Can he average 8-9 assists a game with %'s and steals?
