I haven't watched to many of these 30 for 30 episodes that ESPN produces, although I know they have gotten great reviews. Tonights episode is the Epic Red Sox comeback vs the Yankees. Anyone else watching this? As a sports fan just watching this gives me tingles down my spine.Truly an epic story.
I've seen almost all of them so far. This is a truly epic series. I have no interest in this one. 1. Baseball sucks. 2. The Red Sox and their fans kinda suck. 3. The Yankees totally suck. 4. Baseball sucks. Other than that, I'm sure it's a great show. Enjoy. I highly recommend checking out all of the series you've missed.
That was dumb...Couldve just played the games on espn classic Movie was: game 4: sox win. everyone is happy game 5: sox win. everyone happy game 6: sox win. everyone happy game 7: sox win. everyone happy
I had never watched a documentary on the comeback before. It was nice to see some behind the scene clips and everything collaborated together. Arguably one of the best sports series ever.
That was a great post season. Astros/Cards was an epic series even though the wrong team won. And of course the sox/yankees I'm not sure how many walk offs were in that post season but im guessing atleast 4. Ready for the one on the cubs that will be great as well.......
the 30 for 30 series are hit and miss. some are really good, some are really bad. if they did a baseball one, I rather see one on the 1989 World Series.
This is one I did not DVR as I just saw it. It was called "The Tenth Inning" by Ken Burns on PBS. On the second night this comeback was played to death so I had no problem NOT seeing it again.
which ones are the best? im looking to get a couple of the past episodes on itunes and was looking for recommendations. the only 2 i have seen so far are the reggie miller and iverson ones. the reggie miller one was awesome.
The U was awesome, as was Big Air about Matt Hoffman. He was the first to hit that no-handy 900 in 2002 and rode/built the biggest BMX ramps ever seen. Now due to all of the concusions he's punch drunk. I know there are a couple more I'm missing as this is a great series.
I thought the OJ episode was amazing... there's no voice over, just news clips and photographs, but they had all kinds of stuff that didn't get out to the public, like the 911 call OJ made while in the Bronco. Made by the same guy that did "The Kid Stays in the Picture" and it's made in the same style. Since I didn't learn anything new from the OJ doc, I can't tell you why I liked it so much, but I was pinned to the couch the entire time.
Sorry to double post, but I also liked (in no particular order): - "Run Ricky Run" (about Ricky Williams) - "The 16th Man" (tells the story told in "Invictus") - "No Crossover" (about Allen Iverson) - "The U" (about Miami) - "One Night in Vegas" (The Tyson fight/Tupac Murder) - "The Guru of Go" (about Paul Westhead @ Loyola Marymount) - "Small Potatoes: Who killed the USFL?" (Self explanatory) ... and the OJ Episode is called "June 17th, 1994." I enjoyed the hell out of all of those above. The one about Gretzky, the one about the LA Raiders, and the one about the Chris Everett/Navritalova rivalry were all pretty lame.
The OJ one was really good, and I liked the Miller, Ricky Williams, and AI one. As well as the fantasy baseball one. La Raiders was alright, didn't like the ali one. I've seen those and one other one that escapes me right now. It must have not been that good if I can't remember it.
I thought the Ali one was great... it was just pretty slow-moving, and really tragic. Has a lot of old, never-seen footage of Ali, and you can just see the guy slowly deteriorating mentally. That's one that you watch once, then never again.
Some were really excellent. Run Ricky Run, since it featured realtime footage of his "lost years" especially, the Two Escobars, One Night in Vegas, the Terry Fox Against the Wind or whatever it was, the Ali one, the USFL. Some were just si played and stomach turning I couldn't watch. Encomiums to Jordan, Steinbrenner and the overhyped Roid Sox-Yanks rivalry? Enough already.
I never saw the two escobars, but I really wanted to. I keep on forgetting to dvr it whenever it's on. BTW, has ESPN passed 30 yet? I've lost track.
Haven't seen the Terry Fox one (still on my DVR) but I agree with everything else you said. ESPECIALLY in that second paragraph... I won't even watch the Jordan one.
