There's no way NY is trading Randolph, one of their prime offseason pickups, and especially not for Battier and Jeffries. It would take at least Brooks or Martin to get them to consider it. But then why would Houston do it?
90% of attempts from 3 LOL It's actually like 60 something But don't take that from me, I lack "critical thinking skills" unlike you. I AM NOT WORTHY!!!
Ok, let's make everyone happy: NY wants Fernandez, Jefferies, and get rid of Curry Portland wants a 1st rd. pick for Fernandez and has been after Battier for years Clutchfans wants Randolph So... Battier and Houston's 2012 1st pick to Portland Fernandez, Przybilla, and Jefferies to New York Randolph, Curry, and Portland's 2012 2nd pick to Houston everyone got what they want we'll then need to trade Hill if we got Randolph, maybe the Ariza+Hill+? for Iggy trade? and Randolph should be able to play some backup SF. Yao Ming, Miller, Curry Scola, Patterson, Hayes Igudala, Randolph Martin, Budinger, Taylor Brooks, Lowry
Battier, Jefferies, and a late 1st rounder for Randolph, a 2nd rd. pick, and a huge expiring contract won't make you happy? i feel sorry for you, dude....
Wow! Great finds. Knowing the statistical genius Morey is, he was probably aware of this and saw his potential in Adleman's system once our roster is healthy. We'll have plenty of shooters on the floor with K-Mart, Scola, Brooks, Ariza, Budinger and Yao. What we're sorely lacking is defense in our back court, once Yao is back to defend the paint. A guy that can defend virtually every position and won't take up a lot of offensive possessions would be great in our rotation. After reading this, I'd say Battier and Hill are more expendable. ONLY because we have a great replacement for Battier in Ariza. I think Hill is an appealing trade asset and Morey's shown he's able to draft well, so he could find a future C/PF with our picks. Agree, but if they're trying to salary dump and get a piece of value in return (Jeffries), then they would have to give something up. Very solid trade idea.
Curry is expiring at the end of the year, they are not trying to dump his salary. They know they are not competing to win this year, so no way they'd give up a great prospect to get a player(s) that only helps them compete this year (battiera and/or JJ) when they'll have enough money off the books for Carmelo next year anyway. And if they trade Randolph now, they won't be able to trade him in a Carmelo or Paul deal if those opportunities become available.
If Paul or Anthony(or both) were to become available, the Knicks would still have players to trade with, including Jeffries. They are probably wanting to acquire Jeffries so that they could use him this season which probably means that they are looking to compete this season. We could use Curry to back up Yao and have Miller back up Scola. Personally, i wouldn't do it even if they were to include Randolph or Chandler because we would find a better deal come the break or somewhere else before the season starts.
It would be a lot harder for the knicks (who have no #1 picks to trade) to deal for a carmelo or chris paul w/ randolph. he's one of the 3 most valuable young assets they have. they will not trade him for a one-year rental for a defensive specialist as they don't think they can compete for a deep playoff run without several more pieces. no one trades young assets for a one-year rental of a mediocre player unless they think they can win it all. i also think people are misunderstanding their position towards curry. he is a cancer, but an expiring contract. d'antoni has had no problem telling him to stay away in the past, so at worst he's $10M off the knicks books at the end of the year -- which they'll use to chase a free-agent, CBA permitting. as far as the fact that jeffries could be traded by the knicks for paul or carmelo anthony, it doesn't make sense to trade a better expiring (curry) for a lesser expiring (JJ) along with a great asset (randolph) if you hope to make a trade this year for one of the stars. denver ans new orleans would much rather have curry and randolph as part of a package then JJ, not even close.
You can come up with any sort of scenario that involves trading for Curry, but the thing is, we obviously don't want to make New York any better, UNLESS we acquired players like W. Chandler (and whomever else) and waived NY's obligation to giving/swapping 1st rounders. We'd still have an expiring contract (Curry) to save us from future luxury tax hell. Wilson Chandler and Anthony Randolph are the only players----well, Turiaf, but we have our bigs now----who hold any sort of value for the Rockets. Even then, Morey would have to flip players to strengthen or balance the roster. Iguodala or some such player might be more "gettable" if you had so many players to mix-and-match in deals. Is it more important for NY to get back their 2012 pick or keep Anthony Randolph? Does Morey have interest in Randolph in any case? And isn't this all relatively academic, given that there would be plenty of other suitors for Jeffries' expiring contract?
11 pages and people are still talking about NY trading Randolph? They just got him for David Lee, and people are thinking NY wants to get rid of him for Jeffries? What is wrong with people? Maybe we should also talk about the Rockets trading Brad Miller. Except NY trading Randolph is much more preposterous than that.
u no have dreams now u destroy that of others? u need to ask what is wrong with u!!! maybe knicks got randolph with knowing rocket want him so they can use him to get jeffries back? u ever consider that?
