Puma news so far: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/astros-discussing-berkman-deals.html and his comments on the matter: Berkman has told the Astros he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause if the club found a deal to make itself better, but he hasn't gone as far as Oswalt and requested a trade. He said the club hasn't approached him about a trade and expects to finish out the season in Houston. "I don't think there's anything that's imminent, but that doesn't mean something couldn't happen," Berkman said. "The next 48 hours will be interesting to how it plays out, but not only with us, but around baseball. "
Buster Olney, on Baseball Tonight, thinks Lance is going to get moved to either the White Sox or Rays. Says the Stros have started to engage in talks to move Puma since the Oswalt trade is done.
when does lee expire? is there anywhere on the web to get a good listing of mlb team payrolls (like hoopsworld does for the nba) and a listing of the top organization prospects
The Phillies had a good farm system too and look what Wade did with that, Berkman for Brignac and Rodriguez would be okay with me thought
@pgammo: Wallace trade may see Berkman exit. Yanks, Red Sox, Chisox? LA out I heard a rumor last night about the Yanks, Sox and LAD being in play for Lance, I guess it was true?
Lee has said he will not waive his no-trade anyway. I think he has a limited no trade next season, but still I don't think anyone is going to be interested.
If Wade asked for Rodriguez and Brignac for Berkman, Tampa Bay would laugh as they hung up the phone.
USAToday.com has a salary database under MLB, but it doesn't look at future years. Brooks posted a site yesterday that gives future obligations, but my link to that site is at work. Baseball America shows you their top 10 prospects for free, but with no info on them. Use Baseball reference to look up their stats, and The Baseball Cube to look up their ratings in different areas.
He does have a friendlier contract, though, than Oswalt. He's a proven all-star and proven in the playoffs. If he could go to the AL and DH for some of the rest of the season, that helps take pressure off his knee and might make him more productive.
Its looking like an AL team who needs a DH/1b is the way to go for Puma. So Yanks and both Sox should be in play as stated before.
Probably nothing with Puma but something to keep an eye out for.... @cst_sox: Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off.
Yanks are in the market for a set-up man. Wonder if they'd be interested in Lyon for a low level prospect? Lindstrom would be a good fit, too, but I'd want more for him with his age and contract being a lot more favorable. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5421377
