I'm curious, how long do ya'll think it'll take Griffin to become the power forward of the future?

I'm saying this because he had no post up game last season. Can he develop it within this up coming season to start in the 2003-2004 season?

And, do ya'll think he'll be known more as a defensive specialist or an all around player?

I am so excited about Griffin because of the positive flashes he has shown in prior games...and it isn't just highlights...It also is the little things that you will notice that don't show in box scores...These "little" things make the team jell better,...so I really think

    a. the sky is the limit...

    b. He will be an overall kinda player due to what he can do offensively as well as his already defensively impressive game...

I'm not really sure. I'm going to have to see a few NBA games with him in them. I need to know exactly how much endurance he has. I think Jeff said in another thread that Griff hit the rookie wall real early last year, so he may barely make the season without getting tired. Or he may surprise and kick butt and be a starter 20 game,or fewer, in to the season.

I haven't had much experience with guys drafted at 19. I don't know how his body will take it.

If it was on skill alone, first game in he should start. :p

Eddie has a long way to go offensively. Hopefully he improved a bunch in the offseason. The reports from the summer league sounded good, but I am betting it'll take him a little time yet. Next season.

I'd like to see Eddie start by midseason but it will depend on how well he plays in training camp and during the regular season. If he shows early in the season he's further along than we thought and he's too damn good to be coming off the bench I think he can be a starter say 20 or so games into the season.

I think after the All-star break, he MIGHT breakthrough into a starting role.

He is so raw on the offense. I love his game, he reminds me of a ceilingless Robert Horry

i'm new to this board so i guess i have to earn a reputation. i'm moving to houston on tuesday so i guess i'm now a rockets fan.

but i'd say all of you people who say griffin should start x number of games in to the season should probably just let the coaches sort things out. if thomas or taylor are more productive than him, then they should start regardless of griffins potential. rudy t might be the best coach in the nba, he'll do the right thing.

at some point, be it this season or in a future season, i think griffin will be the best big man on the rockets and will get the start

    welcome!

1st post is a good post. I agree with you about the coaching part. That's why I put "it depends" in my post. Ultimately, Rudy will be the one to decide. He sees more about Griff than any of us. (unless one of you guys really is Griff. Can I get an autograph?) :)

I predict that Eddie will get 10 minutes at the center and 20 minutes at the PF positions. I think MoT will start from the 6th game until the all-star break, for showcasing. Then he will be traded for either an expiring contract of about 2 years length or a position of need on the Rockets. At this point, Eddie will assume the starting position.

KT will be asked if he wants to play with the Rockets in a back-up role and have a chance to play on a great team, or if he wants to try to be a starter in the East. After realizing that he will clearly never be better than MoT and Eddie, KT will (I hope) accept a smaller role with a long-term contract at about $4 mill/yr. This will anchor him in as part of our future championship cast.

It's possible to see both KT and MoT leaving us due to the emergence of EG. This means that we have to get at least a backup 4 and 3(Rice is gone in 2 years) from their contracts.

RC cola good point.....lmao(rc ocla what kind of name is that. Oh man did i say that out loud oops.) I agree RC......cola lol. We should wait to see how productive he is, causae if KT or Mo are playing beetr the griff should not start, because we are trying to make the playoffs and starting an unproven player will not help us make the playoofs.

I still don't think Griff deserves to start in front of KT or even Mo for that matter. And I'm positive he won't!:D

I think he's blocked Shaq 3 times. Plus some really memorable swats of Garnett and Tim Duncan. He's THAT good of a shotblocker. (And judging by what he did to Jermaine O'Neal, Nick Collison, and Antonio Davis, so is Ming).

I think it might truly be an open slot in camp. Griffin has the most talent, MoT has the most experience, and KT is coming off the best year.

My guess is Griffin won't be given the starter's job. If he plays like a man possessed, which he is capable of doing, then he might gradually take it.

Eddie will have a tremendous impact at both ends of the floor. He already is starting to fill out and when he's finished should be a special player. His shotblocking intstincts combined wiith his athletic ability really gives us someone unique.Eddie already has moves in the post and has put on something like 17 pounds?I agree, the sky's the limit with him,and I would start him from day one this year.I say 30 -35 min. a game is in order, with most of the time at the 4.I think he would put up numbers and more importantly change the game now.Whether he gets that chance right away is another story.

Yep, EG's blocked a bunch of crap, but the KG and Shaq stuffs were most memorable.

    1. The KG one I remember most was in Minny when the Rockets came back from 7 down 1 minute left and won by one (Eddie had a game-winning three). KG goes up, ready to throw down a mutha. Then comes Superman from behind and stuffs it in his face. Completely clean, but he's called for the "obvious foul because he's a rookie and he's not supposed to block an All-Star. He also blocked him 2 other times in that game, but they weren't as awesome as that one.

    2. On the Laker possession, Shaq pulls up with his patented hook. Someone's waiting for him.
