wow, I forgot the interview was during the series if I remember correctly, he came back to Letterman after beating the Magic and Drexler was on Leno on the exact same night and were on at the same time, I remembered taping the Drexler interview and settling to see a repeat of Letterman with Olajuwon's interview
This should be on every rockets related Letterman thread: Thursday, June 15, 1995 Top Ten Orlando Magic Excuses 10.Didn't want game 5, we're going to see "Batman Forever" 9.Sometimes being so tall makes your kinda dizzy 8.Can't prove it, but pretty sure one of the refs was a brother of one of the Rockets or something 7.Too busy tying yellow ribbons 'round old oak trees (that's a Tony Orlando excuse) 6.Couldn't concentrate after hearing Michael and Lisa Marie actually do it 5.In a perfect world, Connie still would be doing CBS News 4.Ran out of Gatorade and had to use bugs and rain water 3.Anfernee Hardaway didn't score enough bafkets 2.Yeah, like we want to go to the White House and get our ass shot at 1.What do we care, we're already in Disneyworld!
The correct answer to anything pertaining to the Houston Rockets is "Hakeem Olajuwon." If you don't realize this and/or respect this, then gtf out of this thread and gtf off of this website.
It's Jeopardy time! Tinman- I'll take basketball for 1000. AT- Who is the only player in NBA history to win the NBA's Most Valuable Player (MVP), Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP awards in the same season? Tinman- Hakeem Olajuwon.
Can we give negative rep points? Any thread with the word Hakeem in it can be anywhere at any given time. That should be made into law.
Well, this comment sure backfired. Anything and everything Hakeem is acceptable in any forum on this site. EDIT: Crap, Stack, you beat me to it.
I agree....I was gonna hate on his one quote too....but I figured he would get enough from anybody else. You can never go wrong putting anything Hakeem Olajuwon related on this site.
"I was supposed to be in St. John's for three days. I was there...a couple of hours." He probably didn't mean to be funny here, but I found that part hilarious!
There's an indentity theft problem here on clutchfans.... People falsely identifying themeselves as rockets fans. Dream made clutch city and clutch city is forever!
Great find, I have never seen this on the internet. Why do people not respect the greatness that is/was the dream?
I don't think the newer laker fans disrespect the magic years or celtics fans disrespect the bird years or bulls fans disrespect the jordan years. you wonder why cause the rockets only won two championships and the best player is dream. dream is also well respected by other true nba fans. the ny crowd on letterman was nice to dream.
I joined way back when and have only come out of hiding to say: If there were a way to filter my ClutchFans BBS so that the only threads I read are ones started by Tinman, I would be in heaven. Long live ClutchFans (originally Clutchcity.com) and Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon!! (I once saw him at Target on I-10 signing autographs for his book, "Living the Dream" back in 7th grade but my mom had given me only $20 with my sisters to buy my first bra ever and while I was debating whether I go for the bra or do I buy his book, the line closed and Hakeem had to get up and leave!!!! It was tragedy! I felt so sad and dumb for even considering getting the bra! But he waved and smiled at everyone as they ushered him out and I don't know if he knew how much he influenced my life to the point that I gave a presentation about him in my Japanese class last year, or still have the original "Believe it! Again!" placard that I bring to every Rockets game I attend while wearing my #34 Olajuwon jersey (and #11 Yao Ming shorts since I don't mind farting on Yao Ming's clothes since I am actually a Yao Ming-"he is okay but never as good as Dream so I am disappointed" fan), but yes, he (and the rest of the 1990-1996 Houston Rockets teams, especially Mad Max, my 2nd favorite Rocket ever because of all his fire and fervor and fearlessness), lives on forever in my heart!) My brother posts on this board semi-regularly, and I know he's embarrassed of me right now (and even moreso once he reads this), but I've always thought of Tinman as my Clutchfans soulmate, and anyone else who doesn't appreciate Tinman's history lessons and reminders of the true heart and soul of this organization need to get a beating from #11. (the 1993-94 #11, I mean). HAHA Clutch, sorry if you have to ban me after this verbally abusive post and I know you have no idea who I am but I've been here since the beginning. I won't post again because I'm actually embarrassed and find myself hilarious at the same time, hahahahahahaha. Sorry Clutchfans, I know you are all bewildered. I have to go back into hiding now but I wanted to let Tinman know that his posts are my absolute favorite ones. (Followed closely by HeyPartner, but too bad HeyPee is no longer allowed I guess.)
