let's see, a HEALTHY yao can be easily taken out of the game by fronting, can be abused by perimeter centers/PF's(okur, boozer, Dirk), cannot guard the pick and roll, gets cheap fouls called on him and is at times soft. Healthy howard has no jumpshot and is a bad free-thow shooter and gets cheap fouls on him. Gimme me howard anytime of the week and twice on sunday. After the 07 loss to Utah I wanted both yao and tmac traded. Both were healthy, both were superstars, both were all-stars that yr and the team had homecourt and you still LOSE is not tolerable in my view

This. I remember being at that game 7 and wondering why the hell we could never get a rebound, and why Utah players were grabbing rebounds over Yao.
I voted for Yao simply because the title said "Yao vs. Dwight". Head to head Yao has owned Dwight every single time. Right now Dwight is the better player though.
I dont think the fact that Yaos Chinese have anything to do with it. The fact is Howard is a better player plan and simple.

There isnt a gm in the league who will take Yao over howard. Howard can play in any system and any style. Yao is restricted to 1 style of play. Its easy to build around howard, its a mistake to build around yao.

Dwight easily. If we had Dwight in 2007 instead of Yao we would have probably beaten the Jazz. Dwight can rebound so much better than Yao. He's a much better pick and roll and overall defender than Yao. Sure, he's not versatile like Yao offensively, but whatever he does it's effective shown by the highest FG% in the league.
