I don't think its even close. As much as I dislike Shaq and his antics, he was the most physically dominating center I have ever seen. Duncan's great because of his consistency, not because he was "Dominant" in any category. He is also a huge product of the incredibly disciplined system that they play in.
I meant to make a poll out of it but what the heck. Anyways my vote goes to Shaq, the man who forced the NBA to change rules to slow him down.
I go with Tim Duncan... the most underrated player in NBA history... & my favorite b/t the two... --RB
Shaq. At his prime he was absolutely unstoppable. That's the reason hack-a-Shaq was created, only way was to send him to the stripe line.
What was Duncan doing between 2000 and 2003 when Shaq was at his absolute best? In their absolute prime the answer is easy. Shaq. Over the course of their entire career. Either one.
Duncan. Shaq needed both Wade and Kobe to get his rings. Now while you can put Duncan's success on the coach and the Spurs system, I personally put it on Duncan and how he helped make scrubs playing along side him better. I mean how many former Spurs players have really found success after leaving the Spurs or when Duncan (or Parker and Ginobilli) doesn't play at 100%?
I didn't realize David Robinson, Sean Elliot and Avery Johnson were scrubs. Ginobilli, Tony Paker and Horry definitely weren't your average role players either. Shaq and Duncan both needed help to win. Jordan, Kobe, Magic, Larry, all had hall of famers play alongside them. Only Hakeem did it by himself baby!
