Next season we have a dilemma in our rotation. Assuming Yao is healthy, what will our rotation look like?

    PG: Brooks, Lowry
    SG:Martin, Budinger,Taylor
    SF:Ariza, Battier, Harris
    PF:Scola, Hill, jefferies (draft pick)
    C :Yao, Hayes, Anderson, Armstrong

Assuming Harris and Armstrong go, How will we successfully divide the minutes?

I think Morey will end up drafting a combo guard or a PG.. You look at that rotation, we are pretty beefy everywhere except the PG position. Our PG position works because neither guy has to play more than 40 minutes. Lowry or Brooks go down, we have a huge problem on our hands.

Taylor won't play. Jeffries and Andersen will get situational minutes, or take some of Hayes minutes, depending on which one of the three ends up complementing the rest of the team the best.

Morey might also draft a pure C.

Way too early. Aside from the (obviously unknown) draft pick, I expect we'll bring in a couple of new players, or more, between FAs and trades. As an expiring contract, Jeffries will probably leave, though not until the trading deadline.

Hope that rotation includes either Bosh or Jefferson

I hope Morey can somehow land Evan Turner,

    PG: Brooks, Lowry
    SG:Martin, Budinger,Taylor
    SF:Ariza, Battier
    PF:Scola, Hill, Jeffries
C :Yao, Hayes, Free agent, Anderson

If there is no big offseason acquisition (chris bosh).

I hope anderson gets traded. His production is not worth his salary.

It's too early. You don't even have a roster spot for an MLE player, because you are assuming there are no transactions.

Last off season, They lost 3-4 rotation players and got Budinger, Taylor, and Ariza.

I think Hayes, Battier, Harris and Armstrong are going to be gone but you didn't even add the MLE and LLE guys. Probably a moot point since Morey has said trades and FAgency WILL happen so the rotation will look VERY different.

What i'd like to see..

    Rubio/Lowry
    Martin/Taylor
    Ariza/MLE(Manu)
    Bosh/Hill or Scola
    Yao/LLE(Camby)

Pretty obvious who isn't on the squad.

Since we already have Scola, Hill, and Jeffries, our draft pick is unlikely to be a PF and more likely to be a C. Heck even Andersen's natural position is power forward, as that is what he played in Europe, and he doesn't have the bulk or toughness to hang with NBA centers.

I think we decline Chuck's team option, as well. Just too many power forwards under contract and while he's done as well as can be expected against opposing centers, he just doesn't have the height to handle being the backup to Yao.

Basically, our only true center is Yao. That's why we need to draft one, or maybe sign one with the LLE/MLE.

There are a lot of moving parts right now because Morey is sure to at least explore trades in the off-season, and nobody (other than Yao) is untouchable. However, if he were to stand pat and stick with the current roster + draft picks, I think it would look like this:

    Brooks/Lowry/Taylor
    Martin/Budinger/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Hill/Jeffries
    Yao/first round draft pick/Hill

that would be the softest team in the NBA

Agreed, that team would probably score a lot of points, but it would get eaten alive on defense, and lacks depth, so it would be very vulnerable to collapsing the first time a wave of injuries hits.

I don't think the defense would be a problem.

Rubio/Lowry : great defense (Rubio's defense is super)
Martin/Taylor: 50/50 (Taylor seems to have a good defense potential)
    Ariza/MLE(Manu): good defense
Bosh/Hill or Scola: 50/50 (Hill seems to have a good defense potential)
    Yao/LLE(Camby): great defense.

Wow you guys are a tough crowd to make happy lol...

We would have three 20 point scorers, a really good defensive wing and a rookie of the year candidate at the point while having a REALLY strong bench. Adelman has shifted this team to an offensive brand of ball with strong individual defensive players, the team "D" concept is history IMO so Morey will build as such.

To contend for a ring, our 9 man depth chart has to look like...

    1. New player
    2. Yao Ming
    3. Kevin Martin
    4. Aaron Brooks
    5. Luis Scola
    6. Athletic 4/5 defensive player
    7. Lowry
    8. Ariza
    9. Battier/Budinger/Hill (whoever doesn't get dealt)

We need to add 2 guys to our rotation that are just better than the ones in it to really compete IMO. And we need a player that is better than anyone we have.

I agree about Anderson, there is something about him I just don't like. On another note, I thought Armstrong is a expiring contract this seaon and would be a free agent. I would love to get Manu & Camby, at a reasonable cost & contract though.

I'm thinking Wade and Martin will probably share minutes.
