This is a thread about what concerts you wish you could see, but can't. I mean you can't because it is physically impossible for such a concert to take place -- i.e. one of the bandmembers is dead. My top 5: 1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience -- I'd love to see the experience live. I like the JHE better than Band of Gypsys, and it's the concert I wish I could see more than any other. 2. The Grateful Dead -- I'm not a huge Dead-head, but I like the GD a lot, and it would be awesome to see the band live. 3. The Beatles -- This speaks for itself I suppose. 4. Bob Marley and the Wailers -- I don't listen to much reggae other than Bob Marley, but his music is so awesome, I have no need to hear much else. 5. Nirvana -- I grew up listening to Nirvana (as did many people here I imagine), and to see them play would be really cool. I didn't do anything but more recent popular music. I mean, obviously it would've been cool to see the world premiere of the Magic Flute or something like that, but it's hard to rank that . . .
With the exception of Nirvana....I would totally agree with your responses... The top band which I sooo wish I could have seen, no question... The Almighty Led Zeppelin!! one other to add, Randy Rhoads-led Blizzard Of Ozz ( I saw them once...and then Randy died )
1) Nirvana 2) Steve Goodman (he wrote the Perfect Country Western Song and was a noted folk songwriter/performer who died in 1984...his most known song performance was "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request"...classic stuff)
1. the beatles - probably not at the height of beatlemania though 2. led zeppelin 3. classic van halen 4. guns and roses 5. jimi hendrix 6. stevie ray vaughn 7. alice in chains
The newly revamped lineup of Guns N' Roses will be playing festivals in Europe beginning this August in promotion of their eight-year-in-waiting album, Chinese Democracy, which hopefully will be released September 15th. Look for dates in the US beginning next year. Lead singer - W. Axl Rose Guitarist - Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails) Guitarist - Buckethead Guitarist - Richard Fortus (co-founder of Love Spit Love and later a member of the Psychedelic Furs) Bassist - Tommy Stinson (the Replacements) Drummer - Brain "Brain" Mantia (Primus) Keyboard - Dizzy Reed (original member since 1991) 2nd keyboard - Chris Pitman (the Replicants) Paul Huge, who is responsible for Slash leaving the band, left the band two weeks ago, and was replaced by Ricard Fortus.
This is easy... Woodstock. (all the bands in one place on one weekend) That would've been cool to experience. RR
I wish I could have seen the Police in concert...my brother-in-law said their shows were amazing, and I love their music.
Beatles Clash Bob Marley and the Wailers Frank Zappa and the Mothers Sex Pistols Led Zeppelin Blindfaith Buffalo Springfield Cream Jimi Hendrix Experience Gang of Four Joy Division Traffic Buddy Holly and the Crickets This is fun, I could go on all day.
AC/DC w/Bon Scott Cheap Trick in say, '80 KISS '74-'78 Original VH Sweet T-Rex Queen '77 Beatles Priest w/Halford Ramones GnR pre-UYI Misfits w/Danzig Aerosmith '76 The Wildhearts The Yo-Yo's
you know who put on a good show that we can no longer see? believe it or not, Blind Melon. As messed up as Shannon Hoon may or may not have been, their set before Lenny Kravitz back in the mid 90's was really good. The Clash is a good one... I'd have loved to seen them in their heyday. The Beatles final performance on the rooftop of Apple Records. That, I'd like to have seen. SRV, lord knows what he'd be up to now, musically. Sex Pistols is an excellent choice. Just to witness the spectacle. Good thread Vengeance!
1. Velvet Underground 2. Beatles 3. Nirvana 4. Clash 5. Replacements 6. Talking Heads 7. Pixies 8. Guns 'N Roses (original lineup) 9. Husker Du 10. Soundgarden The biggest concerts I haven't seen, but still can is Neil Young. Upcoming concerts that I'm really looking forward to... Sonic Youth, Paul Westerberg, Queens of the Stone Age w/ ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead , Doves, Guided by Voices, Beck, Breeders, Hot Snakes, Girls Against Boys, Sleater-Kinney. The thing I like about DC is that all my favorite bands come here...unlike Houston.
I agree with most of the bands listed, except the MONKEYS... they weren't even really a band. Saw Nirvana at the Abyss on washington. EXCELLENT Show. Also saw SRV at Fitzgeralds on 11th and Studemont (downstairs), just him and his guitar (and a bottle of Jack or Beam I don't recall which). Tried to talk with him between sets and he was so plowed he could barely talk, but man he could sure make that guitar sing. Damn shame both Kurt and Stevie are gone.
