What are you talking about? SnT is great for a team that is on the verge of losing its best player. Obviously, the Cavs and their fans want LeBron to stay, but letting him walk with nothing in return would immediately make them a 15 win team. They would basically have to endure years of hardship before sniffing the playoffs. If the Cavs realize that LeBron is walking and doing a SnT is a possibility, then everyone in Cleveland would welcome that. They would be stupid not to.
Yeah, I think Les needs to sign Morey to a 30 year deal. That would be the greatest move in franchise history.
why should anyone be so ready to dismantle the team? I don't care who it is, if we need to give up Brooks, Scola, Bud, and picks ... doesn't seem worth it. Why do teams like LA wind up so good year after year? The core of those guys have all been together for a while, and they are not constantly reshaping their roster. Being able to trust your teammates like brothers can greatly improve your team. That is something we can have in a relatively short time, unless we keep looking for the answer elsewhere.
I agree with this post. I also think that some of this thread are overestimating the bargaining power of the incumbant team in a sign and trade negotiation for an unrestricted free agents. Personally, I hope that Hill shows out the final two and a half months or so and becomes a valid trade chip. Toronto gets: Ariza - after putting up solid numbers following the addition of a real goto scorer Hill -- after showing serious upside for the rest of the season Jefferies -- for contract purposes Three first round draft picks -- ours and the knicks 2012 picks and either our pick in 2011(that now has the right to switch with NYC) or our first round pick this year. Houston Gets: Bosh Brooks / Lowry Martin / Taylor Battier -- you have got to have role players / Budinger Bosh / Scola Yao / Chavid Hayserson  You could also add a veteran's exception, and possibly a Greg Monroe/Damion James pick from 11-15 from the 09 draft. If that team would share the basketball like the WEBER-BIBBY-PEJA Kings, we would have to be the favorite to challenge the Lakers.
If James does indeed want out of Cleveland, its not the managements fault for trading him, they are handcuffed...the fans would want to crucify LBJ, not the team. Just like when Hakeem wanted to get out of Houston...and we let him go. Fans had a bitter taste towards Olajuwon, not towards the Rockets. And Hakeem had much more of an impact in Houston than James has had in Cleveland thus far.
