We all want Ariza to head for the bench, but we all know RA has always been on Ariza's d***, and he surely won't send Ariza to the bench, but Battier....
I actually dont see that as true. No way near true. He shoots worse when he shoots more. You put him on the second unit you end up making him shoot more. 1st unit you still have AB and KM ahead of him.
LOL Speak for your self man. But I guess DM has been on his nuts as well since this has all been his and RAs idea. DM put it out there but if you dont follow whats inside the organization other then the games I can see why you would make that comment.
Yea you wouldn't want Kevin Martin reading that and getting upset lol. I think for what we gave up we won this deal. If we had given up Chase and Kyle I wouldn't like it, but for Carl Landry we got Kevin, picks, and j-hill
Keep em' both. Put Battier on the bench first, and see how it goes. Or we could do it by match up. Like if we need someone on Lebron or Kobe we have Battier start, but if we need Ariza for something he starts. Look for Ariza to be sharper, know he doesn't have to be our number 2 guy any more.
Best thing about this trade is that Kevin Martin takes pressure off of Ariza. It will help Ariza's game. Ariza is a hungry scorer. He looks for his shot, and when he's more selective as he was in L.A. with Kobe, he was most efficient. Ariza after this trade > Ariza before this trade
Battier: shoots under .400 from the field. Ariza: shoots under .400 from the field. Martin: shoots under .400 from the field. So hard to decide who to start.
I voted for Ariza as coming off the bench and it makes more sense as Ariza could benefit as a second unit go to guy with no major drop off in defense. If Ariza's hot on a given night then you can stay with him. Lots of option now and none of them wrong.
Martin will start in the guard spot and Ariza will move to the starting small forward spot. Coach has to know Ariza's ego is far more fragile than Battier.
Ariza's ego, and Battier's lack of it, is probably the most important factor in the coach's decision. Personally, I think Battier fits better with Martin. K-Mart needs someone to bail him out on the defensive end. Ariza is nowhere near Battier's abilities on help defense. And on offense, I am not sure if Ariza is willing to take a lesser role now that he has "established" himself as the top option.
Shane probably plays better without having to sit after warming up.. but I don't think Trevor would take coming off the bench as maturely as Shane will. Hence my vote.
