I have no problem with Martin as a player (he's good), but as the trade stands I don't think it improves the team. How do you expect Martin to impact the team?

    Uh, another offensive threat?

If people start to double up on Brooks, that may leave Martin wide open.

You'll love when Martin is wide open.

A shooting guard that helps spread the floor WITH Brooks. Note how teams were starting to cut off Brooks from the pick. Teams are adjusting to Brooks and Landry/Scola being our only consistant offensive threats.

When Ariza and Battier struggles with their shots (more often than now. Ariza only hit .500 or better 9 times this season), our offense stagnates. Martin attracts enough attention where they can't cheat from multiple areas (especially if Hayes is in the game)

He's 7 inches taller, can get to the line efficiently, and has a sweet stroke off a screen.

Brooks shouldn't be relied on to score night in and night out, this will take the load of Brooks and let him blossom into the greatest point guard of all-time.

If nothing else, Martin is a second guy you can put in the starting lineup that can create his own shot. He'll also team up with Brooks to form perhaps the worst defending back-court in the entire league. If you thought our defense sucked before the trade ...

Maybe Hilton Armstrong shows us something as an interior defender.

I think the best thing KMart brings (if healthy) is someone who will take shots away from Ariza.

What does he bring over Brooks? Well, 8 inches to start with and he plays a position where we've been shoving in small forwards all season.

If Kmart can come and shoot the way he supposed to (Rocket Shooting Disease wont let him...) Ab is going to average 5 assists at least.. All he needs is someone who can make a shot.. Kmart can make shots hopefully..

i dont see how it cant improve it.

-tmac wasnt even playing, so no contribution from him needs to be replaced

-you're basically replacing landry's contribution, although he averaged 16 a game or so, he had limited minutes. you can insert a mike harris in there at that slot, no risk of him having to play big minutes, and he'll still get you 10 ppg or so

-kevinmartin not only brings around 20ppg, but he also, most importantly, will take away shots from battier and ariza...we give up our most efficient scorer, who didnt have many touches to begin with, and we take touches from our two least efficient, who took a bunch of shots

And this is exactly why we HAVE TO keep Shane Battier.
