A lot of folks including myself bashed Morey on his being shrewd and his hesitance to make a deal that includes sending away talent.

I went and watched 1 episode of Big Love and

    BAM

Kevin Martin, a true 2 guard, 27 years old. For Carl Landry and Stacy.

What a move, I stand corrected, Morey is excellent. Martins contract is not even terrible.

Are you serious? I wouldn't mind if he gave up T-Mac and Brian Cook. BUT NOT CARL FREAKING LANDRY! He's an idiot.

I'm going to wait until I see how this totally plays out. I've been confused by Morey before, only to be impressed ... but not impressed at the moment, with the limited facts coming out.

my immediate reaction is that we gave up too much, BUT we have to try and look at this from morey's POV.

    - Martin may not be wade, kobe, or lebron, but he's a legit 20ppg scorer, at the very least. Take itno consideration his contract is reasonable, has 3 more years and yet it never goes beyond 13 mill. Meanwhile someone like Iggy maxes out at almost 16, not sure he's worth an extra 3 mill. Deng is maxes out at 14 and he's not as good of a scorer...so morey actually got a nice scorer at a below average price. Even someoen like Gay is going to get over paid and will start at 11 or 12 and may max out over 14 or 15.

    - Landry was prob going to get a big offer next summer, we probably wouldnt be able to match, or not want to, especially when he's had issues on d and rebounding. As much as we like landry, there's room for improvement as a PF.

and i'm sure other things will be noticeable as we get all the facts in..

At the very least??!! thats all he can do. And no offense but 20 ppg at sub 40 percent is not legit..don't want another bricker on this team!

I HATE this move... WTF why would you trade landry for martin. Now we have no money for a top free agent with Martin taking up space. Oh and we gave up Dorsey. Why wouldn't you at least keep Dorsey if your giving up landry. This is in no way a good move considering Martin is just as likely to only play as many games as mcgrady. He is less of a talent and just as injury prone...

Morey is not a idiot. People seem to forget that you have to give up talent to get talent! What do we need more than anything? A Shooting Guard!!! We all love Landry, but he is a backup, no matter how well he is playing! With Yao back next year, we don't need another player on the block. We desperately need a shooting guard that can hit big shots and create shots for himself. Remember we already have a double double machine in Scola. Just think about next year. Brooks, Martin, Ariza, Scola, and Yao. Morey will also have so loot to spend. Martin makes 9.5mil. With us losing Landry that another 3 million of the cap. So thats like only 6.5 million towards the cap next year of what we have now. I don't know the number, but as of now we are losing 22 mil of Tmac, 3 mil of Landry and whatever Dorsey makes, and all we will have on the books next year is Martins 9.5.

Look at it this way. Landry is a beast 1 on 1. However, teams have found a way to defend him. He has not proven that he can beat a double team nor can he effectively pass out of a double team. That's not saying that he won't be able to aquire those skills in the future.

That being said. The way Carl has been playing this year, he will be commanding a HUGE pay raise as a RFA. What is the likelyhood of the Rockets being able to retain Carl when he does hit the market?

I love Morey, but if he pulls the trigger on this deal, he is a moron.

I have seen the need for a a legit SG but in making this deal, we doom the bench to being defensive specialists (save Chase) and essentially trade Landry for Martin and lose our best post scorer this season.

Granted, McGrady and Dorsey are bench players, but I'd rather McGrady rot on the bench, then go through with this. In Morey we trust, but old boy certainly isn't the GOD of anything. We are getting scrapes and the season will be officially dead as as our playoff hopes go.

You can't win jack with Kenny Thomas.

For everyone complaining about this trade - Landry is great in our eyes. There are a lot of PF's waaaay better than him. Plus in another year he would be asking for a lot of money.

This is a steal for us!! A legit 2 guard . . . if you haven't noticed there aren't too many out there.

    Great trade.

KM is the 2nd best fit to play with Yao , the best is Joe Johnson who most likely will resign with hawks.

CL is great, but when Yao is back , his playing time and ability will be limited. Not good fit for Yao , but a good bench player. Also, don't think Rockets will give 30M+ to CL a year later.

If you can package a "useless" player + a bench player to get a All -star Caliber player, it is a great trade

I too am thinking this is only chapter one of the Trade Deadline novel. The Artest magic trick involved more than one move also, and I was stuck at step 1 thinking "WTF did we just draft Nick Batum."

Everyone needs to chill out and wait for the dust to settle tomorrow after the deadline IMO
