There has to be a trade especially if we were to pull the trigger on the Caron Butler trade. We'll have 3 possibly 4 Small Forwards on the roster if we would keep Chase that would be under contract for the next year & a half. One of them has to go, I'd say the one that will bring the most value & at that point I'd say Battier becuase of Ariza's recent woeful play. Plus Battier could be the missing piece (where have we heard that before) to a championship squad.
so surprise that so many guys unlike battier!! why? let him stay roxs, for his deffence, his three points.
Yeah I'd trade him or Ariza. There was a thread awhile back(only pure speculation) on JR Smith. I know many don't like or aren't high on Smith but that's something I'd consider. (Yeah Denver has Anthony at SF, but Ariza or Battier could be their defensive stopper so to speak even though it seems Battier declined a bit defensively. They appear to be destined to face the Lakers later down the road in the playoffs)
Battier is declining fast and you can see it in his game, he has lost that step and cant guard the elite players anymore. We need to get rid of him while people know he still can kind of defend
As it appears unlikely now that we will get an impact player via trade before the trade deadline, dealing Battier should be strongly considered. Assuming, of course, we buy out TMac, or trade him for strictly expiring deals. If Battier is dealt in the next five days, it would make us players in the free agent market this summer for a franchise player. In Feigan's blog the other day, he stated: (I've got the Rockets committed to $43,796,779, although that includes $946,000 to Dorsey, $2.334 million for Hayes and $3 million to Landry, all team options. It does not include Scola, Lowry or a first-round pick. -- Jonathan) With a projected salary cap of $53.6 million for next year, this leaves us about $7-9 million this summer to spend, not including Scola, Lowry or a first-round pick (see Feigan blog, Bimathug thread). If we dump Battier for expirings, however, that gives us another $7.3 million in salary cap room this summer. If we include Hayes in the deal, that gives us an additional $2.3 million. So a deal such as Battier and Hayes to the Clips for Camby (just an example) would leave us with the following assets this summer: Brooks/Lull? Budinger/Taylor Ariza Landry/Dorsey Yao/Anderson 1st round pick 2nd round pick $16-18 million salary cap space We would have to renounce Scola and Lowry, but we would have room to sign a max player. We could afford to lose Scola because we have Landry, and we could afford to lose Hayes because we have Dorsey for cheaper. Losing Lowry hurts, but perhaps we can draft a backup PG that only counts about $1 million in salary, or we sign Sergio Lull after we use our cap space. If we don't lure a max player, then we can resign Scola, Lowry and a 2nd tier free agent. In summary, by dealing Battier now for expirings, we put ourselves in a position of major flexibility this summer.
Diminishing skills eventually leads to a loss of intangibles. Shane is a better fit for a strong team, not as much on the present Rockets. I wouldn't give him up unless we got good talent in return.
atm we can't score enough on offense for it to matter on defense. The time is ticking and Battier is not getting any younger. There are 2 directions: _^_ contending _v_ getting younger or rebuilding If Morey decides to stick with Battier he better get someone that can lead us to the promise land from tmac's contract.

Battier is a nice guy but he's been done. Last year he had a few good games and clutch shots in the playoffs I will thank him for but he should've been traded after 07-08. Where's the option: long time ago ?
you should have traded battier after the end of the last season, after he really played out of his mind in the lakers series. he never had more value.
okay soo we trade him and loose a lot of defence he can shut down anybody and if we give him up the allstars well run alll over us..........u people gosh we need him hes i very good leader hes there for defence and hitting down these threes when aaron is being double garded and or hes haveing a bad game..........i can't beleave u would say that we trade him the only way i would slightly agreee is if we could get lebrone then yes but other then that no maybe wade thats it
