The reason we lost despite Landry and Brook's career night is defense was not there. Suns scored at will for majority part of the game.
Not sure if this is the apporiate thread, but after watching the interviews with Landry & Brooks, it makes me even happier to have them on the Rockets, Landry said he would rather have a win than a new career high in points and Aaron said he should have played defense(something along that line), those two might be young, but they are very mature.
At least RA is pulling Hayes out sooner and sooner for Mandry. That has to account for something......right?
Not only are we a short team but we have players, who have minimal elevation, guarding jump shooters.Did anyone else notice this?
Our 3 offensively inept starters take the cake for another loss. When Morey said, "Noone is untouchable"...I think we all know by now what he meant. He sees the problem and will hopefully fix it. I've not seen starters on an NBA team underperform at this level recently.
As soon as i saw Ariza chuck up that contested 3 i new there was no hope for a comeback. He completely destroyed the Rockets chance for an upset. I was hoping Aldeman would bench him. The commentators tried to bail him out...saying he's young and all this crap but *& $% him...I don't have patience for him anymore. Maybe if we get a star in return for T-mac his flaws will be better disguised, but not now...they should limit his minutes and give his touches to Landry, Brooks, or even Budinger. Ariza is a role player on this team...I'm tired of seeing him try to be something that he is not. He's not a scorer, or a facilitator, he is a role player...someone that thrives off of better players. That's all. We need to start supporting the players that actually DO something, and when they do it they DO it right. I play competitive basketball with my friends, and even "I" know when to take it to the rack against a bigger player...Ariza's basketball I.Q is unimpressive, I have no sympathy for his learning faze. As soon as everyone gets that thru their head...we'll be a better club. Flame if ya'll want...i don't care. hellboy from Michael's International
First time this season the Rockets have lost three straight. Now Utah and OKC are 1/2 a game behind the Rockets, and Memphis and New Orleans seem to be resurging. This team has been missing a legit starting center all season and the window on aqcuiring one is closing.
i share the same opinion with u,we have too many defensive players in our starting lineup, which cause the low score for them, how to solve that ,my suggestion is to sit ariza, and ask him to provide defense off bench along with our best scorer landry.battier's minutes could be shared with budinger as well.Mr intangible is totally lost during the past couple games,i think he maybe a little tired, just give him more rest, and develop chase more.
Napalm - it was a schizophrenic game last night. The two units played so differently I swear it was like watching almost two different teams playing, rather than starters/benchers of the same team. Our bench was energetic for the most part, and played the faster ball that we've become accustomed to this year. Since you mentioned Andersen, he made a few nice moves offensively, and of course was playing the same time as Landry, while playing the Sun's bench (which did poorly against our bench, I thought). The starters were playing the old stand-in-one-spot-and-wait-for-the-ball-to-come-my-way half court game like we saw when Tmac was still here and starting...not to mention Nash was in and did well like usual. Personally, I think the whole team is just dog tired - not just physically but mentally. Even Landry made a few errors that I don't know he'd have made 6-8 weeks ago, although he was for the most part his usual high energy/tough self. Surprisingly - and I know I'll catch heck for this - Ariza had some good baskets, including two BTB 3's. Of course, we did gangbusters when he was benched, so don't get me wrong....but his game was better than previous few games.
Indeed. They threw some pretty looking shots, too...I seem to forget what Nash's game looks like, then we play him and I'm amazed all over again. He's one of those rare players that not only plays at a high level personally, but makes those around him play better as well.
Look guys, our defense is designed to pack the paint and let them shoot over the top. Well, that plays right into the suns hands. Bad matchup for us....defensively....they can shoot.....what they don't have is any real post up threats. Chuck should have not seen the floor last night. DD
Andersen getting into foul trouble did not help. When he was out there our PnR defense was much better. Not giving up those easy 3 balls to Frye. Scola came in and Frye was suddenly open out there again.
