He stands in one spot on offense and throws his hands up if he doesn't have the ball. If he gets the ball, he hesitates for a couple of seconds then makes his move. On D he stays way off his man. I am just glad its an attitude problem and can be addressed.
Eh, I think holding in your anger and frustration in is bad. AB should have the balls to yell back at Ariza. Let him know his spoiled act isn't allowed in Houston.
This, passive agressiveness achieves nothing, if they have a yell match at least they will be on the same page, sorta.
Seriously Ariza need to come off the bench and play fewer minutes. He's more effective that way. Get Budinger to replace him at starting. But coach will never going to do that because it gonna make Morey look bad.
Can we sign Charles Oakley to a 10 day so he can come in and slap some respect and maybe some basketball IQ into Mr. Brick Shot?
Its tough for him, he has been asked alot and has the feeling he can't do that. Wait until next year when we get 2 players that will be options before him, then he'll be a spot up shooter and defender again (basically a role player) and things will go well.
I hate how people criticize Players when their not playing well for a team... So You people are telling me that you rather have RonRon hold the ball and shot horrible shots at the rim than to give it to Ariza and let the man make something happen? I'm sorry but last time i checked this team doesn't have that many weapons against other elite teams in the NBA, and also i could have sworn this team signed Ariza to a contract to give him more PT and to show case his ability(show what he can do) and that's all the man is trying to do...stop calling him out just because hes not playing very well right now, just please stop with the BS its really starting to get very annoying when everybody thinks that to be a good player you have to be perfect from the floor and have a triple double every night...He is not Lebron and even he doesn't do it every night...SO STOP THE HATING AND LET THE MAN PLAY!!! PLEASE
We all know Ariza is not playing well, but Ariza has what scouts say is potential. The more 3's he misses this year, the less he will miss next year. Ariza is not going anywhere, but he will get better.
Ariza last 20 games and average 0.359 shooting percentage. 6-21 .286 7-23 .304 7-16 .438 8-19 .421 3-12 .250 11-19 .579 5-13 .385 0-9 .000 7-18 .389 5-10 .500 11-20 .550 2-11 .182 1-10 .100 5-17 .294 2-10 .200 5-15 .333 4-10 .400 7-14 .500 5-14 .357 5-14 .357
i see your point... and you make a good point.. about AB you have to take into account that he is young trying to make it in the league supporting a young family and that all can contribute to his attitude. So i dont blame Ariza (totally) i think tmac was 20 times the bigger negative energy. I dont know whats up with ariza though he looks weak out there, almost like dangling corps.
I agree with you that he is not the greatest shooter, nor is he showing improvement. But, we should also consider that Hayes and Battier (who are also starters) have similar to worse stats. It's not entirely Ariza's fault...let's look up Hayes and Battier's past 20 FG%...I bet it'll be much the same. It's not one player, but the offense as a whole that needs to be addressed with some new offense talent.
The thing is, Hayes and Battier doesnt force shots or try too hard to make something happen. They know their roles and theyre pretty good at it. Trevor knows his role but isnt very good at it.
If you see one flaw in a person you usually see several other things. Ariza's bad shooting has led to several other "flaws" some true some not. Ariza has been exposed it's as simple as that. It's not entirely all his fault though. He's still trying to adjust. Not everyone is going to fit like a glove from day 1. Remember Yao when he was a rookie? Remember Tmac when he was first traded here? How about all the abuse Scola took when he was a rookie? The list goes on and on... Ariza came from a team that just won a CHAMPIONSHIP. He's used to winning (basically every night), he's used to having a certain role and focusing on certain aspects of the game. Now he's taking about 15.5 shots a game. First of all, that's way too many shots for Ariza. That's about 3 times as many more shots than he's averaged in his 5 years prior to joining the Rockets. He's not a volume shooter. He just isn't. He should be averaging about 10 shots max. Second, he's playing way too many minutes. He's just not very efficient with his lack of skill set. To make matters more complicated... Ariza really thinks he can be a superstar or tries to be one. While confidence is great and all that's just not him. BUT the plot thickens. If you look at our team the shots shots have to go to somebody. Our starting lineup consists of Brooks, Ariza, Battier, Scola, Hayes. Two out of those 5 are defensive specialists and they don't look for their own shot. AB gets his shots but he also has to focus on running the offense. Scola gets a fair amount and I think he should get more but he's just going with the flow. That leaves Ariza to be a main option because he thinks he's a shooter, he's got the green light but more importantly he's getting the looks. Things for Ariza will get better if and when we acquire a legit scoring 2 guard. Which is why I'm so intrigued with Kevin Martin, C-but, Iggy etc but that's another story. The point is Ariza is a glorified role player that's trying/asked to be a go-to-guy. This has been a tough adjustment for him but I'm not ready to give up on him because he hasn't been given enough time and I know he'd look so much better alongside a real Superstar. He was never brought here to be the second coming or lead us to a championship. With that said I wouldn't be opposed to trading him if the right deal came along.
