Chinese fans have always voted in huge numbers for the Rockets in the past. (Like last year when Alston was one of the leading vote getters for west guards) I think theres a possibility

    My guess is no.

I figure Chinese NBA fans are in hibernation through the winter until Yao Ming emerges sometime next year (summer or later)

Disagree. There are so many Kobe fans in China, which means most Chinese NBA fans are paying attention to NBA, not only Yao.

Chinese people do love Yao. But they don't like basketball just because chinese people are in the NBA. They enjoy the game in general...

...it's like your best friend made the NBA... you would watch every single game and hold him higher above the rest of the NBA squad he is on, but if he gets injured... More than likely you still enjoy the sport in general and will continue to support whatever team he happened to be on at the time.

Lol yes that may be but have you forgotten "When you get back home can you please send a message to the NBA? Tell them to give Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets the next championship"

I like Ariza but he is not worthy of playing in an all star game.

There's no chance Ariza is starting in the All Star game.

The influence of Chinese fans on All-star selection is overrated.

    You sure about that?
    http://www.nba.com/2009/allstar2009/01/22/allstar_final.allstar09.20090122/index.html

Alston, Scola, Battier, Artest, Yao and mcgrady (even though he barely even played last year) were all among the leaders. Alston had more votes than roy and kidd!! Come on, the Chinese vote really doesnt have that much influence?

That's an insult to him if that came true. He's not an all-star caliber play by now, most of the fans from China might be aware of that very well I guess.

So my guess is that no way can he make the All-Star squad.
