This is basically his contract year, I don't see the Rockets picking up his team option seeing he's 26 going on 27 and hasn't made any progress on the court in two seasons. I know it's still early but going to the d-league and still not getting in the rotation or at least stay on the bench is pretty got him in a nasty situation.
He will have to get his act together quickly. If he can show some progress,he might make it,but right now it looks bad for him. I felt bad for him, cause he got hurt last year, but he hasn't done anything to deserve any playing time. Don't know what he can do in the D-League.
I'd say so. The most he could hope for is a summer league invite from someone next offseason. That is, unless he makes some serious progress down in RGV...which I don't see happening.
Only took until post #5 for a thread about a completely different player to devolve into one about Tracy McGrady. Unbelievable. And yes, Dorsey is screwed. Not every second round draft pick works out.
he didn't develop enough, he's not a NBA player. he doesn't do anything particularly well, he can grab boards but we got hayes doing that, and hayes' got defense to go along with his rebounding while dorsey probably does not.
I guess Morey really has us spoiled. Dorsey in college really looked like he had the tools to become a impact player. Great defender and crazy athleticism, just never translated.
he was a low risk gamble, and looking at the players taken after him in the '08 draft, it isn't like the rockets overlooked a player to get dorsey. i guess we could have taken george hill, or kept batum.
Yea but he's still screwed. Nobody is going to give him that kind of money in the future. He better invest the money wisely. I wouldn't be too proud of the money for not making the team. I'll take success over failure for the future anyday.
lets just hope he doesn't end up exactly like Ben Wallace...Big Ben was unwanted and unnoticed in his original club until he was chucked in a trade as a filler breaking breaking out into 4time defensive player of the year in Detroit along with championship rings and allstar appearances... wasn't joey dorsey projected to be a ben wallace clone??
It's up to Dorsey I think. He's got three great but undersized PF/C's ahead of him in the rotation, but it doesn't seem like the Rockets have given up on him entirely. I know last year when he was sent down to th D-league, Morey publicly voiced his dissatisfaction about how Dorsey didn't work hard enough. He's probably going to have to show some real effort this time if he wants to stick with the team.
