now that we have played 11 games into the season... assuming the roster as is, with no major contribution from mcgrady or yao, and with no major injuries or additions of players/trade, my expectation to this team is - 35-40 wins - and it will be satisfying to me already; 40+ wins - slightly beyond my expectation and a nice surprise; making the playoffs - a major accomplishment; anything beyond will be a miracle.
6-8th seed. i've said this since the beginning. with tmac or yao, 4th seed or higher. both -> championship contender right now, in the losses that we've had, it's due to adelman "still" allowing some of our guys to experiment with what they can and can't do (esp. trevor ariza). once the guys figure out their limitations, we'll play even better. PS - carl landry is going to ask for a big payday if he keeps this up.
Somewhere between 30-40 wins. If that's good for the playoffs, good for us. We probably exceeded expectations then.
The Suns are better then expected but like was mentioned above NO, LAC, Utah and GS don't look good at all so Seed#6-8 would be ideal. Lakers Spurs Blazers Dallas Suns Rockets Utah OKC We get a Big Man and Tracy is 90% or so/Tracy gets traded for something of Quality...4 or 5th seed could be a possiblity.
I think we'll be the 7th or 8th seed. I expect San Antonio to pass us up, but we should stay ahead of OKC. The wildcards are Utah and New Orleans, but they both look horrible (especially the Hornets). I expect Utah to slip in as well, pushing OKC out. I don't expect the Hornets to make it.
I'd say we go 46-36 overall. Does that give us a playoff spot? The West seems very bunched at the bottom after LA & Denver. I say we get to at least an 8 seed. Fukk the lottery we want playoffs!
Expectations = Morey trading Tmac already if they dont want him and getting us a big man over 6-6 that can play defense and block shots!
I've been saying this since the pre-season. We'll win 42-48 games (we're on track for 45 now, after playing through a tough schedule). We'll fight until the last week of the regular season for the 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs (whether we get it or not will be decided in that last week). I expect McGrady to be traded by the trade deadline, but I have no idea what we'll get in return. Morey works in mysterious ways. My expectations are that I will be thoroughly entertained watching this squad compete.
Haven't we all learned to expect the unexpected from this team? I honestly don't expect us to be a playoff team, but would not at all be surprised to pull off a first round, or even a second round, upset. If you like soap operas, you can definitely be a Houston Rockets fan.
i believe this type of thread was already done of course i said 37 wins then and i am sticking to that number
I echo those sentiments. They are exciting to watch, but I just don't feel like the current run and gun, hope for the best style of ball will be good in the long run. The Suns and Warriors ran that style with star players. We try and emulate it with sub-star players. Heck of an effort, but at the end of the day, better talent will win when they need to iso/pnr in a half court.
