C-Kompii FIBA sanctions the East Asian Games (which was in May, 2001) and Asian Basketball Championship as well. All those Zones and Subzones are possible targets for the Nation Team. Yao and Wang played in the *May* 2001 East Asian Games. http://www.asia-basket.com/events/eag/eag01.asp Maybe we have that assurance that Yao won't play in a May event again, maybe not really. It would require then not requesting him, or us getting it in writing. And maybe we are just saying...we really need him for his first camp, too.
AP reports here <http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/sports/AP-BKN-NBA-Draft.html> ``No written agreement has been made on Yao's national duties,'' CBA secretary general Xin Lancheng told the Xinhua news agency. ``We want to make sure that Yao will be available to play with the national team when he is needed in the future.'' FIBA spokesman Florian Wanninger said the Chinese Federation has a deadline of Friday to respond -- positively or negatively -- to the NBA's request (on behalf of the Rockets) for a letter of clearance. _________________ Eventually, we will all know....
The next East Asian Games will be held in Macau in 2005, another 3 years away. Its usually held around mid-May and it only last for less than 10 days. I am not sure if China is too concerned with this one since it does not seem to be a big regional event, especially regarding Basketball. They are more likely to be more concerned with the Asian Games and Asian Championships which are held off-season. -G'day-
i think mr miagi would come in the room and notice us flies and break out the chopsticks and try to catch us. we wouldnt make it through the meeting.
Send them a letter, the darned thing is non binding anyway. Heck, look at how well the Dallas pledge has worked out. The chinese have NO IDEA of how our system works, and how it is NOT a government or companies right to make decisions for the player. Send them a letter, and then get Ming over here and let him choose. DaDakota
