New Scam Gives Hackers Access To Your Bank Account There's a new scam on the Internet that could give crooks access to your bank account. This one is particularly dangerous, says Gadget Guy Corey Miller, because you may think the e-mail is from a service that's linked to your credit cards and your bank account. About 16 million Internet shoppers use programs such as PayPal to safely transfer money from their bank accounts or credit cards to pay bills or make purchases. But they might get a bogus e-mail asking them to verify their PayPal account information because of a server upgrade. The link takes users to a Web site that only looks like PayPal. When you type in your account information, you give a hacker access to your bank account and credit cards. "Just about any service that's offered on the Web that holds confidential information, one of their terms of service is they won't ever ask you for your password," said Peyton Engel of Madison ISP Berbee. "There are ones that will remind you of your password if you've forgotten it, but that's a different matter." Keep that in mind because this scam isn't exclusive to PayPal, and it can be tricky. In fact, when you click into one of the scam e-mails and wind up at a fake site, the site usually has a fake url to make it look like the real thing. If you ever get an e-mail asking for your password from any Web site, go to the site, look for e-mail customer service and tell them what's going on. But don't ever give your password out ... no matter how legitimate the request looks. ------ always be cautious... just passing on the info for you paypal users.
Hey Clutch, I think rockHEAD just found out a way for you to upgrade to a better, more expensive server... (grinning faced smiley inserted here)
Paypal is a scam anyways here is why: Say you send someone 1000 dollars through paypal for an auction item you won. That person does not send it to you. You then report the person to paypal. Paypal freezes the account given the person ample time to prove they sent it. The person then sends paypal a tracking number paypal verifies it and your screwed, regardless if the packe he sent you was empty or just a plain white envelope. Paypals screw me part2 You win the auction you send the person money/ No item is sent. You contact paypal, paypal then freezes the account BUT here is the catch the person Must have the funds in their account for you to get a refund. Paypal cannot go into someones bank account and give you the refund. 30 days letter you get a "Im sorry but we were unable to give you a refund" Paypal has 150 lawsuits pending against them right now.
let me screw you #3: Since Paypal has gone out of business with everyone suing them, how about you send me a money order(since I don't trust you with a check) and I just claim I never got it.
Hillarious! Let me screw you! Let me screw you #4 -I will put an auction on ebay and if you don't pay me I will come to your house and break your knee caps. I always wanted to open a business, "Pay or Be Crippled Inc"
