First off, calling Harpring "great" in any positive sense of the word is revolting and disgusting.

The guy needs to hang it up. He didn't look very good last season and I can't see him making it through another without breaking down again if he's gets regular minutes.

Yeah, he deserves to have his most powerful weapon, his ass, plastered right next to Malone's on the Ass of Fame along Salt Lake's Main Street. As a just compensation for all he's given to the sport.

Jazz Great? It's not in the article.. no clue where you pulled that from. By that logic, Rockets Great Brent Barry might be retiring also.

Good, I was tired of all the commentators referring to him as an ex-football player….like anyone gives a damn.

I liked his hustle and grit coming out of Ga Tech, then he ended up with the Jazz and was dead to me.

It would be great if we could stick it to the j*zz by "helping" them out with their financial situation...

It's too bad he's retiring before the Rockets humiliated him so much that he was left on the court weeping in pain and shame.

It would have been nice to see that happen before he called it quits.

Also it doesn't matter what t-mac has done or hasn't done, he is light years ahead of Harpring as a person and player.

    Wow, I hope this doesn't happen :(

The NBA will miss the Class he played with, as well as his tremendous talent.

Harpring is just one of those players you show young players and say "You see this guy, THIS GUY...That's who you want to model your game after!"

The NBA will miss a great player in Harpring, that is for sure.

    I hope JayGoogle is kidding...

Matt Harpring was an extension of Jerry Sloan, the biggest douche to ever coach in the NBA.

Matt Harpring didn't play like a douche when he was in Philly. He was a hard working, disciplined jack of all trade. There were other players who were more athletic and talented than him,but he was coveted for these qualities.
Things started changing slowly but surely in the Jazz system, he became thuggish in his ways especially as he got older, and became less known for his skills.
    I for one,won't miss him.
