Well, oh hey. While we're at it, let's pin EVERYTHING on Dr. Clanton. I heard a rumor that he started Hurricane Ike by swirling the ocean with straws
08-09 4) Mutombo- Knee surgery (End of his career) He was an extremely healthy player, even at his age. He only had minor injuries, but the Rockets's lack of preventative care got him. Are you f*ing kidding me. The medical staff is to blame when a 65 year old player hurts his knee in a game?
If he can mess it big time here, I shudder to think what will happen to his patients that do not have the money for a second opinion.
The problem I have with the Yao injury is that when it was announced he would be out for the remainder of the playoffs, we see Yao the following game walking with no aid. Isn't it common sense that if you break your bones that it will require rest to heal it and walking puts a lot of stress on the bone especially if broken. I think this could of prevented if Yao was given a better advice on his foot problems and got better conditioning on his legs.
As a physician, let me tell you that professional sports teams (big name ones) don't choice affiliations. Large orthopedic sports groups, trainers, and hospitals bid each other to represent the Rockets, Texans, and Astros. This way they can market to the public, and physicians can say that they are the team doc for the ...., which really doesn't mean squat! That being said, Dr. Clanton is an extremely qualified surgeon who is well respected in the medical community. His specialty is foot/ankle disorders. If I had a problem with my foot, I would feel comfortable seeing him and allowing him to operate. Since my speciality is rehabilitation medicine, I often wonder about the preventive aspects of sports medicine, but this is a topic of another discussion.
Slick, it sucks that they don't choose their affiliations. The Rockets need to change that. Even if they save $1 million/yr with a lower bid, they lose $40 million in star power riding pine. Do you think the preventative methods used by the Phoenix Suns staff is effective? Or is it bunk and something that every team already does anyway? They are using Michael Clark, CEO of NASM. http://www.nasm.org/corporate/about.aspx?id=44 Thanks for the insight.
Why do posters keep on bringing up the Suns as if they are miracle workers? Hill made his comeback which included an All Star selection when he was still with the Magic. Amare has not been the poster boy of an injury-free player.
As far as history has turned out with him here. There couldnt have been better news. A new Dr. for all these guys is totally acceptable. Starting over often helps to break cycles even if the guy wasnt responsible sometimes starting over is the best thing to do.
i read somewhere this ****er is doing yao's surgery. WHAT???? this guy is bad luck go get surgery with a real specialist.
The thing with Amare mainly has been his eye problems for the last few years. But aside from Amare, they have older players like Hill, Nash and even Shaq (who could barely get on the court in his final season at Miami) being able to run in that offense with as few as injuries as they have, it is damn impressive. More so then anything Clanton's team has done for any of our sports teams.
