I expected him to. No one is going to pay him more than 2 mil.; but, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo more Cook. He is without a doubt in my mind the worst Rocket on our team right now and way over paid for a specialty that he's not even good at.
Cook just dedicated the 3m left on his contract for a chance of showing his value, hopefully he can get more time and credit from his new team and earn a satisfying contract in several seasons. Anyway it's not a bad decision for a young guy to opt out of a team where he has little room, 3m is too little to afford one year's time of a young player.
Any one of us could live the rest of our lives comfortably on the after tax net from that $3.5. Enjoy it Brian Cook. Your genes were good to you. Signed, short, can't jump, jealified
Barbosa.... outside of the contract, he wont be very valuable...although i must say i got a little respect for cook. he was diving on the floor for loose balls down 40 in game 5.
He use to be a rotation player with LA. It just tells you how crappy the Lakers were just a couple years ago. That Gasol trade changed everything.
Ariza was not playing much in Orlando and was injury prone there. He flourished when He got to play for the Lakers. His game fits the Lakers system. A case of being at the right place at the right time.
Brian Cook is like the big guy everyone picks up at the park because they think he can play... Then he just roams the three point line and jacks everytime he touches the ball.... and you're thinking get your big @ss down low! This guy is trash. I would like to think we can move him as an expiring contract, but if that was the case it would most likely be a trade for AB, Scola, or Landry + Cook to make the contracts work. He is unlikely to be moved with Mac since most teams will have to throw in trash players/contracts like Cook to make the contracts match. Also teams are not going to add Cook for us to shed money off the cap.. If they do they will want us to throw in a draft pick for that to happen.
Cook could be use as a trade bait for teams wanting to free up cap space next year. His value as an expiring contract will be needed nearing the trade deadline.
He gets more camera time cheering on the bench than he does on the court, smart move to get his face out there.
Doesn't shock me at all. Your team almost beats the team that won it all, you DON'T leave. THAT SIMPLE, lol.
At least Cook knows down to the penny how much money he will EVER make in the NBA so he can start budgeting for life after basketball.
Agreed. Agreed. At least Cook knows down to the penny how much money he will EVER make in the NBA so he can start budgeting for life after basketball.
All players must have the philosophy in life because basketball as a profession is only temporary and an injury could end that profession as fast as they can start a career.
sigh worst part is that its the first time cook has exercised anything at all in the past year so terrible
