Its possible but then you'd have to have either Yao or Deke play in the power forward position. And neither are really built to play that position well. Hakeem could play the 4 position early in his career because of his athleticism and remained a scoring option but Yao and Deke have been centers for years, they probably won't be able to make the transition all that well.
That knee injury looks painful. He may have torn a ligament or a meniscus. At his age, he may well call it a career here. You're a good man Deke. Get well soon!
We may have just seen the last of Dikembe Mutombo in an NBA jersey. Time for Landry to step up when we go small with Yao out.
There was definitely a really bad vibe coming from the team and Mutombo himself. Hopefully it wasn't as bad as it looked.. Best wishes, Deke.
This is no way for a warrior like Deke to go down. Hope it's not too serious and he could still get back and wag his fingers at least one more time.

See how valuable Mutombo was in game 1 ?? We're terrible on defense right now, nobody to back the guys up. Mutombo, we fans appreciate you, too bad the Rockets organisation didn't
Damn it, this way no way for Grandpa Deke to go out. He deserves much better. We love you, Deke. Thank you for everything! All the hustle, the finger-wagging, the attitude...I hope you will be okay!
Mutombo's inspired play in game 1 was a big reason why I was rethinking my pre-series prediction of Blazers in 7. Without him, I really don't think the Rockets will pull this one out. They're just too small for a long, good rebounding team like the Blazers.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I respect your realist pov, but I wished you put on the rocket red glasses for a while. Mutombo will be missed and it's sad he didnt get to ride off into the sunset like he deserves to.
Long live Mt. Mutombo! The legend will never die. Brandon Roy and Sergio Rodriguez should be honored to have had their shots blocked by Deke.
