Rafer kept the Magic in the playoffs -- they would have finished in 9th or 10th place without him. I've heard from several well placed insiders that Rafer is now the unofficial captain of the team.

Alston's new nickname on the team is Dr. Chemistry PhDef.

That is almost an impossibility. You are underrating so many players with one sentence: Lewis, Terkoglu, Howard, Lowry, etc.

    Eastern conference.

You have to think it's by design that Artest brings the ball up so often. Adelman must see some advantage in having Artest initiate the offense, some wrinkle that isn't there when Lowry or Brooks brings it up. I don't know, maybe it's as simple as keeping Ron involved and in rhythm even when the offense isn't centered around him.

You didn't hear his name because he didn't put up 12 wide-open shots.

    Get it?

Good post, but I disagree with you a lot my friend - several points

If you miss Rafer, then go back to Orlando!!

    1. I will not return to Orlando -the proliferation of Burmese Pythons in Florida has made my return there UNLIKELY - no need to take chances.

Rafer couldn't do shyt for this team other than spotting jump shots.

    2. Rafer spotted many a jump shot while here to the likes of Derek Fisher, et al.

e can't penetrate and doesn't want to penetrate and when he does

    3. Rafer penetrated people like crazy, witnesseth his stabbing phase.

Sure he play better D and handling the ball better but that don't really translate into wins

    4. Rafer is actually an ancient sanskrit word for "MUCHAS VICTORIAS!!!"

    Oh Rafer Alston
Heaves up a wide open three
    Hits nothing but air

...i actually did kinda like him though :/

Ironically, this thread title may become truer [?] as the days pass by. One game does not make a series.

Too many people analyze Rafer like they are putting together a fantasy roster, instead of a real basketball team. He's a pretty good PG. He was the starter for one playoff team, and got traded and is the starting PG for another playoff team. Doesn't that say anything?

rafer was a better passer and distributor, ab is a better shooter and scorer, simple as that, but personally because teams are gonna double yao, i would take ab over rafer. (If only lowry can shoot consistently, it would be the best of both worlds......)

Yes. That he's fortunate to have played for good teams. I like Rafer but let's not kid ourselves into thinking he's capable of putting a lottery team into the playoffs or anything like that. He's a solid player that's probably best suited to be a backup. He's made the best of every situation he's been put in and deserves credit for doing so.

    3PT: 2/6
    REB: 2

If he replace ab in last-night game,
    can we win the game?

Alston not doubt was really needed last year with bobby jackson being the starter. uhhhh God I still have nightmares with that a-hole trying to run the rockets. This year I don't know if we need him and Aaron really showed up, I just hope he can keep that up, but there is nobody on this thread going to say that he is solid. He's more kinda sorta streaky.
