Isn't that slavery? How can you take a grown man back or let someone "borrow" a person. You borrow a can opener or a rake, but not a person. That's both funny and sick in the same breath.

Yeah, it's the bottom line. The CBA hasn't said they'll "force" Yao to play, and he's already said he won't.

I'm sure the CBA isn't dumb enough to cause some sort of showdown, all that could accomplish is to make the CBA look bad.

    Just think about this...
The Chinese National Basketball Team has dominated Asia for 30 years...
The supervisors' revenue and chances to get promotion are mostly depand on the team's performance.
If they lose the title, the supervisors of Chinese Basketball Association can hardly get promoted.
They make yao play to make sure the Asian Cup Title so they probably get promoted and get bonus. :p
    What a pethetic system!

Soccer teams borrow (or loan) players from other teams all the time.

    Welcome to the real world.

A lot of European top soccer teams sometimes 'borrow/loan' a player that they want first and with the option to 'buy' the player if he performs up to satisfaction, otherwise his old team would have to take the player (grown man) back. Did you just call that slavery?

Just leave Yao there and call Yi back. Then we can have the NBA titile and Asian championship both.

Yi has rested too much on Nets bench. But for defeating the slow Korean and small Japanese, Yi is way too enough.

Pau Gasol won't go with Spain this summer, rest. Maybe Yao can play with this.

agreed. If China wants him there, whatever.

The only issue is whether or not Yao wants to do it.

I dont think Yao want to play the game in this summer. He's so tired and his shoulder also need rest which was wounded in last year. The coming summer is a good chance for him to get rest, and then we will have a Mvp in the next season.

What's your point? This is FIBA Asian championship so there will be no European teams there. The bottom line is that they do NOT need Yao to win in this summer. So Yao deserves to rest. Is this idea really that difficult to get through your thick skull?

Since when is Sina a credible source?
If it is, it specifically says "IF YAO DECIDES TO PLAY...". Doesn't that imply it's up to Yao?
    Don't panic people,
