I might be giving fmullegun to much credit here, but I assumed he was saying that looks are more important to men, therefore they are more important for women.

This girl is clearly fat, but you never know, it could be your kind of fat. Doesn't seem like it's completely out of the range of attractiveness. YMMV.

The American viewpoint of love is that of comfort rather than passion. Because it's a business first society lacking in culture, people look for "compatibility" traits and common interests to generate the fuel needed to keep the fire burning. This leads to them not developing a refined taste in women and looking to friends to validate their relationships instead of thinking for themselves.

I think it's sexy when a girl is comfortable with who she is and doesn't do things out of insecurity, fear and overcompensation. Unfortunately those are a lot of characteristics synonymous with fatties, which is why they get a bad rap. Also, I like girls who look good in dresses.

However large this girl is, if she makes you happy and you're one of those people who likes to think for yourself, I say go for it. I think it's ridiculous to come online and ask people if it's socially acceptable for you to date someone.

What a naive viewpoint. Women are attracted to universal traits like power, social value, charisma, caretaker/nourishing ability etc. because they run on emotions over logic and essentially have masochistic urges (pertaining to submission) that need to be fulfilled. Men are the more shallow sex and have always prioritized physical features in women since prehistoric times, it appeals to their social value and primal urges.

So if an overweight guy is well established or is making good money and has certain universal personality traits women look for, you can bet he will place high standards on the women he dates and women won't be shy in reciprocating his approach.

 

It isn't naive, just completely one sided.
