It is not news...We all know that they don't care...but we do, don't we? If your friend got robbed, do you think that 99.99999% of the population will care? But would you stand up for him?
Not really anything fineable with what Yao said. Yao needs to mix in more expletives and call Stern out though
It's interesting because if the league would let Yao play aggressively, he'd start dominating. No doubt in my mind. His FTA alone would go up 50%. Stern has no interest in drawing attention to this situation which would eventually be beneficial to the Rockets if officiating big men was evened out. Houston market is not LA/NY so Stern has no incentive to help the Rockets. But the league seriously needs to address flopping.
But that is so wrong! How can the LA/NY market compare to the 1.3 billion-people market of China? Seriously, imagine if Yao led the Rockets to an NBA championship, no doubt the NBA would see its revenue grow by leaps and bounds! I guess Stern is a shrewd businessman who fairs to see the big picture. And I am not advocating that the league "hands" us a championship, but we should at least get a fair chance on the court damn it!
China's market is not that big, in term of per capital revenue, it is actually very very small. Is there a serious market analysis report or sth.?
Nah... Yao is on David Stern's /ignore list, just like you guys put some of the poster in your /ignore list.
JVG made it all the way to NPR. What yao should have done is he should have mentioned " a source close to him that works for the nba." Hell, the source could have been the equipment manager, but he had to mention "close source" to get stern's attention. We will get stern next time.
Probably because the game was played in Utah and Stern doesn't want to get involved with those people.
I hear David Stern tells league officials that Yao's critics on the refs are too soft to deserve a fine. That's sad.
Probably because Stern knows fining Yao would bring more attention to the issue, which he obviously wants to avoid.
If you fine Yao, you validate him. If you ignore him, he goes away; his outbursts---directly to the media, that is---are few and far between. Several years ago FOX News and Bill O-F***head tried to go after Al Franken for "Lying Liars", whatever the book was called. The case was literally laughed out of court; I saw the videotape from the court proceedings. Now, whatever you may think of one side or the other, the point is, the book hadn't come out yet. It shot to #1 on Amazon pre-order sales list. If someone takes a swipe at you, unless a response is absolutely necessary, you can often ignore it and.....poof!, it goes away, like a fart in a high wind.
Why would he get fined? It's not like he called the Refs a bunch of idiots or something. There was nothing he said that would get him fined.
Because Stern didn't know what happened. He never watched a Rockets game, as well as Rockets' interview.
