Hah. I did UT regular and I have a honors sticker on my diploma. Who gives a ****? No one, that's who.
well...i feel i could complement it with premed..or bio... i really want to get in....but im scared...
when i went to UT i knew one person who went plan 2 honors.. last time i saw her, she got a nice job at ENRON.
Dude, seriously, if you're THAT hell-bent on getting into the program, why don't you just ask a Plan 2 advisor himself what you can do? Pretty much every poster on this board who has already been through college (myself included.....Engineering Honors at A&M) has told you that it makes NO DIFFERENCE what program you go into as an Undergrad, especially if you plan on going into med school! I have had PLENTY of friends who went Plan 2 at UT, and every one of them told me that the course work is NOT difficult, as long as you know how to think outside the box. Everything is purely empirical and none of it is going to help you become a better doctor, because med school is about work ethic and dedication, mixed with a whole lot of memorization.
I think you should check out Plan B. What can you do if you don't get into medical school. I see many premeds major in biology. If you don't get into medical school, what the heck can you do with that useless degree? Go back to school for another degree? Don't you need a graduate degree to work in a lab or teach?
do you realize that you're asking for advice on a very important academic endeavor on a basketball message board? my advice, don't look for advice here. find someone you know in the program, or ask your friends/family to put you in touch with someone in the program. then you can ask them all the questions you want and get more reliable answers.
Ms. Scolara is a nice lady, so maybe talk to her. I got deferred from Plan II, didn't bother to do my deferral essay after I got into LAH. I hope you rocked your essay, cause it's 40% of your acceptance. I know a National Merit Finalist that did not get in, and I can only assume it was because their essay was lacking.
Of course.....it's their job. They're there to ADVISE. As long as you are very direct with what you want, and you don't ask them vague questions, you should be able to get all the information you want.
Waste of time...Just go to UT, make good grades, and get a good MCAT score. Don't get caught up in trying to impress friends, family, etc...They'll be a hell of a lot more impressed when you get into medical school and had a badass time doing it at UT.
Hey, just think of it this way. This is your moment in the barrel of **** at the bottom of an outhouse... but you're destined for something greater when you grow up.
eh, dean scholars is nothing worth while. PREMED IS NOT A MAJOR! let me say that again.... premed is NOT a major. atleast at UT its not. "Premed" is a set of courses you must take before applying to med school.
