Depends on what/where you're looking. Downtown there's some decent upscale places:

    Truluck's
    III Forks
    Roaring Fork
    Sullivan's
    Melting Pot
    Roy's
    McCormick and Schmick's

And some more reasonable places not too far from campus that might be more suited to someone on a student budget:

    Z Tejas
    PF Chang's
    Guero's
    Serrano's (Red River location)
    Matt's El Rancho
    Maudie's (South Lamar location)

depends on how much $$$ you want to spend on her.

Fogo De Chao is all you can eat Brazillian, I hope you get your money's worth.

    Take her to Uchi.

Tinman, I don't think its open anymore, but their pizza used to be the best. I've had pizza in ny and pretty much have eaten in every state of the union, but shields pizza was different. I used to win trivia on klbj for free pizza all the time in the 90's.

hahaha. yeah take her to zen if you're looking to end the date quickly. but on a serious note... some good places to check out are uchi, gypsy, manuels, south congress cafe, buenos aires cafe, clay pit, wink or el chile. These are all local restaurants too so it would be more of a unique experience. good luck!

I'm too lazy to search, but there have been multiple threads on this topic.

    Fonda San Miguel
    RuBy's BBQ
    El Caribe
    Uchi
    Tino's Greek Cafe
    Saccone's Pizza
    East Side Pies
    Madam Mam's (Thai)
    Tan My (Viet)
    Vespaio

    Good luck.

Am I the only one to find these statements ironic?

I agree with all of Baqui's downtown suggestions, an I'll add:
    Moonshine
    Perry's Steakhouse

Hyde Park Bar and Grill is a good date spot.

Realle's is good, but pretty casual. More like family dining. (I'm going to be pissed if it closed! I went there only months ago, and it hasn't been the same for a few years, but still, it's my favorite Italian place)

Reale's is still open. I just went for lunch last week. Absolutely love their pizza. I've never been at night. I can't imagine it would be a great date place if you're trying to impress.

Another vote for Fogo De Chao. I went there for the first time a couple of weeks and now I have dreams about that place.

I haven't eaten at all of the upscale steakhouses in town, but I was surprised that the ribeye that I had at Truluck's was the best steak that I've ever had.
