VAIOs, like Macs, are more expensive for the specs but you pay for how it looks.

Sony makes good electronics so you shouldn't have any problems with reliability, but personally I would rather save money and get an equally powerful laptop even though it won't look as good as the VAIO.

yeah i love my ps3, never had a problem with it, and have always trusted sony.

by looking at the specs, do you like either of the two laptops?

sums it up. although it also depends on what you want to do with it. personally, lenovos are my favorites for professional uses, although they are on the expensive side as well.

Is the ThinkPad still a good notebook.

I do not need much performance so I keep notebooks for a long time (my T42P thinkpad is 4 years old) so I need something that can last.

Unless something has changed since they were bought out that is not my experience.

    I had an X30 in 2001 and then replaced it with a T42P in ~2005 i think

Both are excellent and the X series still works I just wanted more performance and a larger screen,.

I have one of the Small 11 Inch screen ultra portables and I love it. But as people said you will pay a bit more for the name and design aspects of it.

I was looking at getting another one but for the money you can get a lot more power and features from another brand but it would look as nice.

Like all the ones I was looking at had basic resolution despite such a beautiful screen. It wasn't until you got up to the big models that had higher resolutions while other companies such as Asus, Dell, etc had better graphics cards in them.

All in all I love the sony but i got a hell of a deal on it that's why i got it...if i had to choose between a full priced one and one with more power I would take the specs over the looks.

I have a vaio at home for about 6 mos now and like it. it seems better quality than a dell or hp that I have used at work.

I've been using my Vaio for about two and half years now. Good quality but quite expensive. I wouldn't want to spend $800+ on a Sony, though.

Get a Dell or something for about $600 that would get you 4GB of RAM and 320GB.

I'm using a Sony Vaio CR right now for law school and don't have any complaints. It was a little pricey but I haven't had any problems.

The second laptop uses the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M video card, DO NOT BUY IT!!!! The 8400s are faulty and it WILL FAIL. I have a FZ190, and it died after a year and a half. Since the video card is on the motherboard, it will cost at least 500 to 600 to fix.

I dont have a laptop, have a regular Sony Vaio desktop. I'm gonna assume it follows similarly with the laptops in overpricing itself.. Sony support to me isnt that good, if that kinda thing is important to you. They do look nice though.

The laptops might be better than the desktops though
