We have started to do the Sushi thing more so we will check that place out. We will take the tickets, thanks.
It appears my son's office is relatively close so he can probably drop them off at the hotel. Email me your particulars and I'll get the tickets to you. Trocaderos is downtown so it shouldn't be too much trouble to get to. If you do plan to check out the Mall of America, you can take the light rail all the way from downtown.
Damn, this took forever to find. I haven't been in 9 years, but when I was there, the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices was a cool place to check out. They had a "hysteria" machine that was really just a vibrator to get women off. And the "shoe sizing x ray" machine that just spewed radiation on everyone. A great place to stop by, and they had a great burger joint in the same strip center that also had "stuffed" hamburgers. As in they stuffed cream cheese and jalepenos into the actual patty. Good stuff. http://www.museumofquackery.com/
Minn. baby sitter admits using charge in p*rn film Associated Press Dec. 5, 2008, 2:27AM— A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to answering an online advertisement for baby-sitting work and then using the client's child to make a pornographic video. In a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Aaron Jay Lemon admitted Wednesday to producing the video. The 23-year-old from Little Canada also admitted to coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct. The plea agreement says Lemon filmed the child in St. Paul after seeking the baby-sitting job through Craigslist. St. Paul police say the victim was a 2-year-old girl. The U.S. attorney's office says the case was part of a project that encourages agencies to investigate the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet. The office says Lemon faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.
I got your email but can't reply to it right now, because it is on my home computer. Anyway, my son will be able to walk those tickets over to the Crown Plaze. I assume it is the one at 618 2nd avenue. He'll do it Monday or Tuesday and leave them for you at the front desk.
I went there back in August and thought it was kind of a nice place. Didn't really do much besides catch a Twins game and this pretty cool bridge thing: I think the building you to get to it is called Guthrie or something like that.
Hmmmm...my son was at the Crowne Plaza around 11:00 AM and they don't have you registered there so he didn't leave the tickets. Drop me an email.
MB; I must've missed this thread earlier but feel free to email me through CF.net and I will fill you in on what to do. Unfortanely my schedule is pretty tight right now in the evenings but might have time to grab a beer on earlier in the evenings on Tues. or Friday and should be free Sat. afternoon. I've got a gig Sat. night which you're welcome to check out but just to warn you its in the burbs out by 3M and not very interesting. As others have noted you've come at a rough time and so far this has been a particularly cold December. If you aren't used to the weather I recommend staying in. Heck I've lived here more than 10 years and I just want to stay in. There are some interesting things to see though, such as Minnehaha falls frozen: and Rice Park in St. Paul Also the Holidazzle Parade as others recommended. If you like art and architecture there's some fantastic new buildings such as the Guthrie Theater and the Walker Art Center. There is also the Minnesota Institute of Arts which is free. The Guthrie is free to go in and the Walker is free on Thursday nights. Some other things you might want to see is First Ave, the nightclub where Purple Rain was filmed which is right next to the Target Center. Both are pretty close to Trocaderos and Fogo De Chao which Bobrek recommended. Some other Minnesota spots are Nicollet Mall and the Crystal Court at the IDS center where the opening scene for the Mary Tyler Moore Show was shot. For a real Houston Rockets experience you can go to Santana foods on the corner of NE University and 6th St., across the river from Downtown where Eddie Griffin had his infamous car crash while watching p*rn. If you are looking for good food the place to hit is called Eat Street which is Nicollet Ave. south of Downtown. There are several really good Vietnamese places along with a few Mexican places and a good German Restaurant. For the true upper Midwest experience though check out Nyes Polonaise room across the river from Downtown. Its a place where you can chow down on Polish food, listen to polka and check out a bunch of 20 something hipsters. Drop me a line and I can give you some more info or if I have time I will be happy to show you around or grab a beer and shoot the breeze about Houston Sports.
