Way too often I see him getting in a personal battle with opposing PGs. He starts jacking up shots that are impossible just because he can. I really do believe that he is a selfish player that only cares about how the team is doing while he is on the floor.

Honestly, that wouldnt annoy me that much if he were really good....but he is below average so it just irks me.

If history is an indicator, he won't improve it past 37-39% which would bump him up maybe 1 spot on that list.

It will only go up if he stops taking stupid shots, but even if that happens, it won't go up that much because he is a below average shooter...He's always been that way.

I am so tired of him. Hopefully, this is the last season for him to be the starting pg here.

its not his fault if teammates are not questioning his fga. They must trust him then. Who are we to say?

What if Rafer did what Tony Parker did...

What if Rafer did what Tony Parker did? Credit to Wikipedia.

if Rafer shot in the low 40's that would be a blessing.

That would be wonderful for Rafer and the team if he was to accomplish that. After all, we need him to be successful if the team is going to ever be.

The only thing is do the Rockets have any such shooting coach like Chip Engelland that could work on Rafer's shooting mechanics?

Rafer plays center at street games. :D
    Rafer on street ball:39pts/g, 15rebs/g, 4.6blocks/g,5.1stls/g
    0.4ast/g, 78%FG, 33%FT, 0%3s (there's no three point line on street court)

As strange as this may sound, we need Rafer's threes in order to spread the defence, you can argue that the threes can come from anywhere, but Rafer's the one who is left wide open and is on the court the most, so he needs to be able to hit threes. Also, it's not as if his % improves the closer he is to the basket, so might as well jack it up.

It would be much easier to just try and pick someone else up rather than investing that much time and effort in hoping a 32 year old (who's only redeeming quality is being the default facilitator of the offense) can make a drastic improvement in his shooting.

I think he already practiced on his shoots. Results=Well..from time to time gets in.

Every thread should have one of these:

    "Rafer sucks"

    DD

PS. So much for his ability to set the offense up...how did that work out against Indiana?

Agreed. On both of your points.

I used to believe in the excuse of Rafer setting up the offense better, but Brooks couldn't of done any worse and probably would of made a freaking tear drop.

Just take away the layups and teardrops and his % would go up! have him dish out everytime he penetrates, if not, the entire rockets team gets to hit him in the stomach, like in full metal jacket.

It's nice to dream about Rafer shooting a better percentage, but unfortunately this is what we're gonna get. Especially in this offense where Yao, Ron and TMac take up so much of the paint. The only spot left for Rafer is out on the three point line. The reason that Parker can increase his two point field goal attempts by so much is because they run the pick and roll with him and Duncan. Plus he gets into the lane so frequently cause of his quickness.

    Yawn.

Let's see, we want a PG that can run the offense, shoot >45%, decent assist #'s and plays some defense.

There's probably less than 10 guys that fit the criteria.

...and I'd like to have a supermodel as a wife who isn't a biatch, can cook and isn't an airhead.

We got what we got. Rafer has proved over and over and over that he's our best option. Obviously you upgrade him if you can ...but that's easier said than done.

If this team fails to make a playoff run, it won't be Rafer's fault. It'll be Yao and McGrady's. They are our horses. They need to take us to the promise land. Yao needs to dominate ...consistently. And TMac needs to stop taking 40ft jumpers with 3 minutes left in a close game. Take it to the freaking hole, man. Take it to the hole!!!!! Make a freaking play during crunch time to seal a win.
