Free agent role players for next year?

After watching the Laker/Kings game, it has become more aparent how valuable role players are to a team. Most teams have 1 or 2 all-stars, surrounded by players who know what the hell to do when they get off the bench, and they (for the most par) do a good job of SUPPORTING the star players.

What role players would fit our system well that you would like to see in a Rocket uniform next year (via free agency)?

I'm not a fan of Marshall, but if he were willing to play for the 4.5 exception ...

    *grumble*

yeah I'd sign him up. He's better than anything we have right now at sf.

Marshall would be a tremendous addition for us. Him and Eddie would be a great combo.

I agree. Donyell Marshall would be a great pickup for this team.

Marshall would make our team much uglier, but would be a good pickup nonetheless.

What about players with options in their contract. I think Rasheed has a player option, for example (not that we would or wouldnt pick him up though).

Doleac = Collier.... no thanks... Marshall I would like to bring in..Nailon gives the Rockets the same thing Rice will give us (hopefully). I would prefer to have an athletic SF.

I think the only EG combo that would excite is one where the other player is a power player. If that is infact the case then we already have that combo, twice. Once with KT and the other with MoT.

By the way, the only thing Tmo needs to be the perfect SF for us in two years, after Rice, is a rearrangement of his brain. Probably the biggest acquisition we can make this offseason is to acquire some serious aggression and hunger for Tmo. Oh boy!

    Actually,

    D Marshall would be sweet!!!
    Z Wang, S Walker, or M Rose...
    D George would be nice.

I say lets go all out, trade Mobley, Taylor, and our pick for E Jones A Mourning. Then add Marshall.

    Mourning
    Griffin
    Marshall
    Jones
    Francis

That should just about do it.

way over the cap? No, not really.

the Rockets are over the cap though. But they do have the 4.5 million exception, quite enough $$$ to lure a role-player should they want to play in Houston.

If we re-signed Shandon Anderson, we would be in the same predictament.

I don't like Keon Clark all too much, I would rather just keep Cato. Also I think this team is filled with role players. We need super star impact players. Unless we can get a Ratliff, Wallace type role player.

When is Jamaal Magloire a free agent? I'd much rather have him than Donyell Marshall because he wouldn't cost as much salary wise and doesn't need the ball offensively like Donyell.

    Cap-wise, not really.

We would be near the 42.5 mill cap if we didn't have Rice or Anderson.

Also, it's better to be OVER the cap than just under the cap, so that you can use the 4.5 mill exception.
