I always think the veggie options at nice restaurants are better than all-veggie restaurants (I am veggie but not vegan). I'd find a few nice restaurants (no seafood, those places have nothing) and call to see if they have veggie options. Usually, the chef will make a vegetarian plate if there is nothing on the menu.

Indian food can be a tough first date, i think.

If she's Indian and vegetarian like me, then fish and chicken are also not allowed, just to save you some hassle. You need to try places that are purely vegetarian.....although most nicer places have good veggie options. I would tend to agree that the veggie options at a nice restaurant are still better than an all-vegetarian restaurant, especially if you're thinking Indian food.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm leaning towards Mother's. I've never been there, so do you recommend reservations or would it be possible to just walk in?

Batman had some good suggestions. In my opinion, Mother's rules the roost, but all the others mentioned are excellent and have things they do especially well. Also, several places that aren't strictly vegetarian serve really good vegetarian fare. Try East Side Cafe, at 2113 Manor Rd, for a fine example of what I mean.

How does this even make sense. If a person is Vegetarian, what in the heck would make you think Fish is ok?

Believe me, I think the same way. However, I've met a ton of vegetarians who make exceptions for fish. It baffles me, so I no longer question it when I hear it.

Is Madras Pavillion still open in Austin?

Also that vegetarian place right across UT campus/Dobie Towers kinda blows.

No one on this board cares about what you had for your main course. We want to know if you had dessert. ;)

One more vote for Mr. Natural on Cesar Chavez. Some of the best Mexican food I've had(vegetarian or not.)

    Mr Natural Blows.

    Madras Pavilion is awesome.

East Side Cafe is amazingly inconsistent.

    Vivo totally blows.

Most importantly, you should know not to make an effort to keep this girl. You want to spend the rest of your life getting **** about the smell of bacon in the morning? I didn't think so.
